woods-racer Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) Hate on Botts all you want. But what is really sad is Gorges, Lehner, Molson, Bogo are still here, because they're not worth a bag of pucks. Lot of fixing to do for GMJB and wasn't going to happen with this trade. Georgia Blizzard Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 In end, I think Kane's locker Pierre LeBrunVerified account @PierreVLeBrun 40s41 seconds agoMore Here's the condition of the first-round 2019 pick in the Evander Kane deal: if the Sharks re-sign Kane, it's a first; but if Kane walks into free agency, it's a second-round pick in 2019 Ok, this trade sucks. UGH ! This sucks
Brawndo Posted February 26, 2018 Author Report Posted February 26, 2018 Now the deal sucks Here's the condition of the first-round 2019 pick in the Evander Kane deal: if the Sharks re-sign Kane, it's a first; but if Kane walks into free agency, it's a second-round pick in 2019
WildCard Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Hate on Botts all you want. But what is really sad is Gorges, Lehner, Molson, Bogo are still here, because there not worth a bag of pucks. Lot of fixing to do for GMJB and wasn't going to happen with this trade. So I'm supposed to cut him slack for a garbage trade because he didn't make other garbage trades?
Randall Flagg Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Wow, that's bad return. Tough to blame Botterill though, right? How would him being Lou make San Jose give up any more?
darksabre Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Feelin bad for everyone who got their hopes up.
StuckinFL Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 AND the condition is the Sharks re-signing him, not lottery. Can we please just get a competent GM for once?
Samson's Flow Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Peters and Rivet just said the condition on the 1st rounder is re-signing with SJS. Otherwise it is a 2nd rounder. Well that really friggin sucks. Trade is now bad.
MODO Hockey Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) this deal is what we got for kane, did any1 expect any better? honestly? Edited February 26, 2018 by MODO Hockey
sabills Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Honestly for that price Jbot should have been willing to walk away. A second 2 drafts from now, an AHL player, and a 4th THREE drafts from now? Bye.
SDS Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 We can complain all day about it, but ultimately the only opinions that matter are the GM's $100 to your favorite charity if you can point out where I said "not to talk about it" in that sentence.
Taro T Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 I'd be happy to see this, but I think it's highly unlikely, esp. if it's true that the Sabres never approached him about an extension (as was reported in TBN today). Just saw on twitter that a conditional pick can't be re-traded until the conditions are met -- so the Sabres can't trade it until SJ is eliminated from the lottery next season (if that is indeed the condition). Had seen that about 3 weeks ago. Believe that if they hadn't spoken about what Kane was looking for next year by then, they wouldn't have bothered to do so in the interim. Really don't see why they wouldn't at least talk contract to see what he's looking for unless they REALLY don't want him moving forward.
erickompositör72 Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 I couldn't sleep for this?!
Gramps Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 AND the condition is the Sharks re-signing him, not lottery. THIS SUX! Doohicksie Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 How much you wanna bet that Kane signs with the Sabres on July 1, 2018? That would make the deal more palatable.
Frieda Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Danny O Reagan is the prospect If they throw in a shillelagh for me I'm in! :flirt:
dudacek Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 OK, so we got a second-rounder and a 24-year-old minor leaguer? Not happy
Eleven Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 First, the way the trade was originally articulated was misleading. It's a 2019 pick, not 2018. It's a conditional second, not a conditional first. This is just a bad deal. Botterill was had.
GASabresIUFAN Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Complete fail! We basically traded Kane for a small forward with decent AHL numbers, aka Smith, Griffith or Wilson at best.
Samson's Flow Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Wasn't O'Regan the third best player on the BU line? And we complain about Erod on the Sabres at all. O'Regan isn't a prospect. He's almost 25 ffs.
darksabre Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Honestly for that price Jbot should have been willing to walk away. A second 2 drafts from now, an AHL player, and a 4th THREE drafts from now? Bye. It's right on the line for me. The conditional first makes it tolerable.
matter2003 Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) It's almost like Kane isn't that valuable. Half the teams in the NHL probably don't want anything to do with him due to his attitude/reputation/off ice stuff whether its fair or not...when you are limiting the number of potential suitors you are also limiting his worth Edited February 26, 2018 by matter2003
Doctor of Philhousley Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 First is a lotto ticket even if it is next year and so is the prospect. I'd, of course, prefer the haul obtained for Nash but it certainly isn't nothing for a few months of Kane. Either one of those has a reasonable chance of becoming a long term player in exchange for Kane (who obviously would not have been).
Eleven Posted February 26, 2018 Report Posted February 26, 2018 Honestly for that price Jbot should have been willing to walk away. A second 2 drafts from now, an AHL player, and a 4th THREE drafts from now? Bye. Exactly.
