Eichel= 9, ERod=17, O'Regan=10. Just sharing for fun

If I was PH, I'd be looking over my shoulder for the BU coach. Feels like we're trying to reunite the 2014-2015 team.

There will be more adjustments to the organization in the spring and summer per Botterill

No , Jason.  Any other predictions?  Such as the Sun rising in the East tomorrow morning?

How many of those 7 are for 2019 and how many depend on re-signing?

No idea. I think the overall point is that the era of dealing 1st round picks for 20 game rentals is over. There is a lot of experience on this board and I'm not necessarily sure everyone has absorbed the fact that deadline day isn't Christmas morning like years past. I scanned that Trade Tracker and the movement wasn't impressive at all.

Why does this bother you?  Do you not think more changes are needed?

Generally organizational changes signify a failure, and at the very least there's a disconnect somewhere within the organization, and we'll have yet again someone new at some position started fresh, and implemented some new way of doing things.

It's incredible the stability we had with R+R and now we're the complete opposite, yet neither of it has worked.

Lol what were you expecting?

I don't know why I continue to believe in this team

I agree, but the NYR - TBL deal got the blood flowing, Lightning fans aren't going to need any Viagra for a couple weeks

Thread was an interesting read after the fact.

Board was optimistic at first, then hated the trade, then became convinced it’s an acceptable trade by the end. Just like any other move ever.

It’s definitely not a good trade, but the consensus seems to be it was the best possible.

So, thanks, GMTM.

We literally talked about Kane and a Kane trade and getting something rather than nothing since he's going to leave/we aren't resigning him, and have hundred page threads on all his transgressions, and have shared tweets indicating that his value might be suppressed because of said things, over the past few months and even years.

And this is apparently the most upsetting and astounding thing in the world for some?

Were we not prepared, Sabrespace?

The Sabres move onward and I'm happy that Kane the player gets a shot at the playoffs and won't be screwing with his line's ability to make plays in the future.

Context. People saw the 1sts being moved today when that was previously seen as unlikely (of course, there’s context on why those 1sts moved, too) and bumped up their hopes a bit.

Probably ill advised, but the bolded is rather patronizing.

What's he supposed to do right now? He walked into a pretty bad situation.

This sums up everything. And today’s proceedings do nothing but drive home the fact how deep of a hole Botterill voluntarily jumped into, and how long we have to go. It’s going to be a long, long road.

If the Sharks want to push the 2019 4th into 2020 it becomes third

O’Regan will report to Amerks

I thought the 4th was in 2020 to begin with?

Not completely. Stastny moved for a 1st, for one. But ya overall it happens much less.

I think botterill just was with his back against the wall thanks to the pegula's wanting kane gone.

Other GM's knew it and lowballed him,  Hartman got chicago a 2018 1st round pick , Hanzal got a good haul last year.

None of these players are better than kane.

Also the prices for UFA rentals were steep last two years and the buyers remorse after was high.

Clearly it still happens, but these past few years have been fairly dry league wide. There really isn't an expectation that anything WILL be done any more. It's better to just cross your fingers and hope the right situation presents itself, however unlikely it appears these days.

Yup.

I had to skip a few pages to get up to speed but does anyone think TP told JB to trade Kane at any cost? It seems like the high character coach and player schtick worked for the Bills. Maybe the brush up with the law two years ago sealed his fate with this organization.

We're not taking on any crap contracts and if you think Kane is more than a rental and you want to warm him up to your time to resign him - you'll give us a first round pick for it.

Hartman is an RFA. Hanzal did get return quite a bit for a 30 yr old center.
