That Aud Smell Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 It's not pure folly. Obviously, nothing is certain, but there's a boat load of valid tape breakdowns and statistics to form reasonable predictions on. I said it was folly. You heard me. Thinking more on it, I see the point about how surrendering two seconds, especially in this particular draft, could be seen as being as bad or worse as giving up a single first at 22. OTOH, I think the team had it bad for the LB prospect who was still on the board, and the FO wanted to be able to go get him from 22. Quote

Drunkard Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 We'll be lucky for Allen to become half as good as Taylor in a few years. Time to hope AJ McCarron has some Casey Mittelstadt level god like qualities because we're stuck with these guys for the forseeable future. Allen probably won't be ready to even start for a year or two so there's no chance we draft another QB high in the draft when he hasn't had his shot. Quote
Weave Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 Josh Allen is a solid name. Better than Patrick Mahomes as far as names go. So there is that. Josh ruins it for me. I can’t fathom a leader being called Josh. Quote

That Josh Allen grew up on a mother trucking farm. The spin doctors are in fully effect now. I wonder if the Bills brass had any clue about the storm Allen would cause. As Marv used to say, if you listen to the fans you'll be sitting amongst them soon enough. But did McBeane realize that 80% (making that number up) of the fan base was going to lose their over this pick. If it was Terry's call, then I know for certain he had no clue how this was going to go. Not sure if it should matter into mananagments decision making process, probably not. That Josh Allen grew up on a mother trucking farm. Of course it matters. He fits the uniform not unlike some spinster dying to get married that will look past almost anything as long as the guy fits the tux and is willing to walk her down the aisle. They wanted a big guy, with big hands, and a big arm. Being too stupid to go through normal progressions and having happy feet like a nervous squirrel is secondary. Allen is small town and blue collar just like Buffalo pretends to still be with all those non existant steel and factory jobs. Plus he uses blue cheese instead of ranch and he used the word blessed multiple times during his interview at the draft so he checks the most important boxes. Quote

Ah, but "Farming is a profession of hope" (-Brian Brett, canadian poet) And it fits the star spangled story of all American boy- rippling athleticism, the accuracy of a nearsighted bald eagle on a windy winter's day, a gamble on an underdog unbesmirched by the coaching of an elite system, a boy whose very alveoli in his patriotic lungs sing the rocky mountain lovesongs of John Denver with every golden breath! Lo, a red blooded and future man, a bro who grew up with cotton, the very fabric of our lives! Blessed blessed blessed be. Quote

inkman Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 How would everyone feel if we took Vita Vea, Rahsaan Evans, Harold Landry and James Daniels while scooping up Kyle Lauletta in the 3rd round or later? That's 4 instant starters at positions of need with a possible QB of the future. The first round played out exactly that way for the Bills former draft slots and the second round could have easily gone that way. Quote

At least we finally went after it Quote

Gramps Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) Alright, we know Allen will need a year or maybe two. How about the other 1st round QBs ? Any starting the 2018 season ? Edited April 27, 2018 by Gramps Quote

darksabre Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 Trading up to draft a high risk quarterback who isn't even going to play this year seems crazier and crazier every minute. Who could we have picked at 12 instead who would start this year? How much draft capital did we give up for nothing? Couldn't we have just drafted a QB next year? Quote

We could have taking Tremaine at 12 and then Wynn at 22. Both will start this year. Quote
