WildCard Posted March 16, 2018 Author Report Posted March 16, 2018 I don't believe McDermott is at all running the show here, but who even cares if he is Quote
Drunkard Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 So McDermott ran the draft when there was no GM, and made a recommendation about the GM he liked to get the next job? We already have stories of how Bean traded Watkins mid pres-season game, without McDermott's knowledge. And it's not like Bean is just some figure head; ton of experience in the front office role for years, and was the pick to take the Panthers GM job before they fired their own guy I quoted an article about the trade in a later post. I never said Beane just shows up to work and plays solitaire on his laptop, I said McDermott is calling the shots and I assume he gives his blessing before big decisions are made. McDermott didn't know where or how much but after pow-wowing with Beane over the summer it seems to me like McDermott gave his blessing to trade the guy (like a boss making the big decision) and Beane did the leg work (like the grunt he probably is). WildCard Posted March 16, 2018 Author Report Posted March 16, 2018 This is just such a silly crusade to be on Quote
That Aud Smell Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 You're welcome to put me on ignore then, because I'm going to continue to post my feelings on the matter. Ā Nah. It generally suits my temperament better to post periodically in response to stuff that I think is B.S. Quote
North Buffalo Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 It makes me sad we are talking more about the Bills in mid March that really stinks. Quote
Huckleberry Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 It makes me sad we are talking more about the Bills in mid March that really stinks. Ā Hell even I'm spending time just out of boredom :p Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Don't read into that quote, this is at all it is. He's not going to come out and say what he's doing, he's saying we may or may not move up. Typical GM jargon It never ceases to amaze me how literally public statements by GMs/coaches get interpreted. Quote
JujuFish Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Espn is reporting that Beane says Buffalo may not move up further to get a QB. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22793158/buffalo-bills-general-manager-brandon-beane-says-no-guarantee-team-moves-nfl-draft-take-quarterback Ā My guess is he made the calls, listened to the prices and said I donāt think so. Or this could all be pre-draft posturing. However with Preston Brown now gone to Cincy and a guy like Roquan Smith possibly sitting there at 12, Beane may decide the plug that hole and wait on Jackson or Rudolph at 22. Maybe someone like Allen or Mayfield slip and we get lucky and steal them at 12. He also has the powder to move up from 22 to get to say 15-18 to get his QB. Ā One thing for sure, Beane is playing a serious game of chicken to get a much needed QB for this team. Ā I would take Jackson and Rudolph (and obviously Mayfield, Darnold, and Rosen) before Allen. Quote
Brawndo Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Linebacker Will Compton will visit the Bills, per source. The Bills lost ILB Preston Brown to FA. Quote
Brawndo Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 the Jets just traded into 3rd Overall. Ā The cost was six, their second and next years second Quote
dudacek Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 Trading both our number ones for Josh Allen, coming right up. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 ###### the Jets just traded into 3rd Overall. Ā The cost was six, their second and next years second Welp. Quote
LGR4GM Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 The cost was 6, 37, 49, and next year's 2nd. Quote
Brawndo Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 Correction it was two seconds this year from the Jets. Ā From NDT Scouting Final note: #Bills fans, after this trade, here's what a similar trade could look like with the #Giants for #2 overall: Ā 2018 First Rounder (#12 overall) 2018 First Rounder (#22 overall) 2018 Second Rounder (#53 overall) 2019 Second Rounder (TBD) Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 The Jets once thought Christian Hackenberg was worth a 2nd round pick. Let's hope they think Allen is worth #3 overall. Quote
Brawndo Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 (edited) i would add 96 to get it done Edited March 17, 2018 by Brawndo Quote

I do that deal right now. Quote
JohnRobertEichel Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 The Jets once thought Christian Hackenberg was worth a 2nd round pick. Let's hope they think Allen is worth #3 overall. Ā I PRAY this is true. But this is just about the worst news I could have woken up to...trading up with the Giants will be way too costly now. And after two decades of Brady's , I don't want another two decades of Rosen or Mayfield. I'm assuming here that Browns go Darnold and Giants go Barkley. Quote
JohnRobertEichel Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 They're after Rosen. Ā Yeah, probably. His career, in my opinion, will be quite binary - either he'll be the next Sam Bradford or a future pro football Hall of Fame QB. All of the character attacks on him are ridiculous. Dude is genuinely elite. Quote
JujuFish Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 Oh, I don't like this at all.Ā Think they traded up because they knew we would try to trade up above them? Quote
Brawndo Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 Based on draft value charts the Jets overpaid by 700 points to get to three. Quote
nfreeman Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 FWIW, I have a good friend who is a lifelong Giants fan and he is certain the Giants are going to stay at #2 and draft a QB. Quote
Huckleberry Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 Guess those bean comments make more sense, the price might have been getting to high for his taste to get into top 5. Can you imagine having to pony up more than the jets did ? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 17, 2018 Report Posted March 17, 2018 Just sit at 12 and take JacksonĀ  Quote
