I just think the whole "sit a year then play" is a pretty antiquated notion that was applicable in a different era of football. Offensive coaches are better than ever at coaching to their players, and college concepts are prevalent throughout the league. The adjustment simply isn't what it used to be. In some ways I think delaying starting only slows down development; there is only so much you can learn about NFL defenses without seeing them in game action.

Agreed.

Perhaps, but the 3 best (IMO) current QBs in the league, Brady (Bledsoe), Rodgers (Favre), and Brees (Flutie) all sat to start their careers.

But do you think they're that good because they sat? Neither Manning sat. Wentz didn't sit. Roethlisberger didn't sit. Meh.

Hey True...

To be clear, I like bringing in McCarron as a backup to not have to rely on Peterman. I just don't want anything to do with him opening the season as the starter (unless we're dumb enough to take Allen).

If we're dumb enough to take Allen all bets are off. They could bring back EJ and start him for all I care at that point

Shady and Tyrod are really close. Swapping Tyrod for McCarron could motivate that tweet from Shady. But who knows. I don’t read too much into athlete tweets because it’s all cryptic and emotional.

Edit to add: people on Twitter think he’s talking about Bell

Roethlisberger sat a couple of games until the stiff ahead of him (Mattix maybe?) broke. Similar to how Brady got his job, but with about 2 seasons less seasoning. ;)

That's right! Touchdown Tommy Maddox!

So AJ has been in the league for 4 years.  Made 3 starts in 2015 and has played in 11 games in his career.  Wow.

I guess we are moving up to grab a QB.

He's also thrown 60% fewer interceptions than Peterman
