The fact they cut him and kept Benjamin tells me everything I need to know about the current regime.

I don't get it either, he was a former 1000 + receiver coming back from an injury.    At least give him the rest of the year.

To be fair Kelvin Benjamin is a former 1000 yard receiver recovering from this morning’s Taco Bell run.

Why? He hasn't been a 1,000yrd WR since his rookie season 4 years ago. He's either too injured to play or just doesn't care, either way after this year, he shall be gone.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest the fans don't know the whole story.

Those would presumably be grounds for termination.

But @SDS was intimating that there are non-public/unknown reasons that would excuse Benjamin's performance, or otherwise contextualize his continued presence on the roster.

My bad. I read that wrong. SDS is pretty clearly talking about Pryor. Which - pfffffff. Whatever. The guy's pretty obviously a problem child.

SDS defending the Bills FO is nothing new

I’m not sure if he was talking about Benjamin or Pryor but WildCard is right - SDS is defensive about the current Bills regime.

Posted (edited)

Yeah but @SDS also is right--we don't know what the  FO knows.  The fact that Pryor couldn't last on either of two teams with receiver problems means something.

Or maybe he's just providing an alternative point of view for a message board that tends to be heavily biased against this current regime...much more so than the average Bills fan.

I would argue that they're doing a very good job, except for the singular - and absolutely catastrophic - decision to treat Nate Peterman as if he's a capable NFL QB. The vast majority of poor on-field performances and off-field executive moves stem from the nightmare that is/was Nate Peterman.

Yeah - I sorta got this tangent started on the wrong foot. SDS's remarking that the Bills FO and coaches may have information, experience with Pryor that we don't have, which info/experience were negative, is a very reasonable supposition to make.

We're not heavily biased. The Bills have made objectively stupid moves.

That is one hell of an exception. "I think my friend is a really good driver, except for that time he drove off a cliff and barely made it out alive."

This regime took an average team and made it bad by fielding one of the worst offenses since the merger. Heavy criticism is warranted until they prove they can join the modern NFL.

Me to, but it is possible.  They have games against 3 win NYJ, Det and Jax all at home.  2 games with mediocre Miami including home the last game of the season and a week 16 matchup with NE who will have likely clinched the East and playoff slot.

Win all 4 at home evens the record at 7-7.  Split the road games gets us to 8-8.

While I don’t think we’ll win all 6 games, all six are winnable with just a decent offense.

No doubt. This regime has yet to prove that they know how to build an offense and identify a QB capable of producing in the modern NFL. However, the regime optimists have a valid opinion as well. They are looking at this rebuilding project beyond the 1.5 season mark. They see the plan as:

Year 1: remove all the bad apples from the Rex Ryan Era, i.e. players without the self-discipline or work ethic to succeed in a team environment despite whatever individual talent they possess; establish the framework for the defense.

Year 2: eat the remaining salary cap dead weight; find a franchise QB; elevate defense to playoff-caliber; establish framework for offense.

Year 3: use draft and free agency to put finishing touches on defense (DL depth, #2 CB) and add key pieces to offense (OL, WR); get franchise QB more experience; get playoff experience.

Year 4: fill in roster gaps with another off-season of draft and free agency; I presume contend for SuperBowl?
