In what stupid parallel dimension is Falk and Baloo higher on the depth chart than Antipin? No I really want to know because I live in it and I need to know how to get the out.

Let me know when you find the way to the mirror universe :p

I’m very surprised to be saying this, but Casey Nelson deserves to keep playing.

I thought he was terrible in his previous stints and had completely written him off, but he’s been pretty solid.

He’s stepping up against the rush very well and he’s cleaned up the giveaways and soft zone coverage that characterized his previous stints quite nicely.

Beaulieu is a different story; clearly a Housley pet project.

The one in which some team might actually have an interest in acquiring Falk for a very low draft pick?

The one in which the Sabres are positive they have what they want out of Antipin and plan on signing him again next year and are hoping like hell that someone might want to take a flyer on Beaulieu in a trade if the Sabres retain 50% salary or they want to have him in the game to get him going after returning to lineup.

Keep in mind you are in the parallel dimension of it doesn't matter what the lineup is today because post trade deadline it will be different (that's the hope).  Assume Falk and Gorges end up being shipped out....

Please please please please....

I'm surprised no one noted the change in the top 6.  I'm excited to see how the Eichel line will play.  That has the possibility of being a long-time line combo if Samson can keep up his recent good play, and Girgs can mesh in.

I will be shocked if Gorges doesnt go to a contender as a depth defender.

He’s only going to return a late round pick, but GMs love their heart and soul vets and you can’t have enough bodies on the back line come playoff time.

Be pretty funny if it turns out to be Toronto.

I'd ask for a 4th but would expect a 5th.

Yeah, I think Gorges is gone.

I know the forum has been down on the guy, but I think he's been an important transitional piece in working from the tank years to respectability.  He was never a top pairing guy but he's been fine as a depth/bottom pair guy.  And he does step up once in a while and surprises you with his experience (for instance, he's handled MacDavid pretty well).

Falk is only attractive if a team suffers multiple D casualties.

Is he not on that same contract?  And would the NTC still be valid.  So, unless something really changed for him and maybe that past few years playing in Buffalo ( :P  ... ;) ) has moved the needle enough for him accept a trade to The Great Satan.

Still a bright spot, IMO, when he waved for us, but not TO.

I don't see anyone trading anything for our 7/8 defenders. Every team has them at the same skill level.

Mike Weber was traded.  Defensive depth cannot be overlooked.  Gorges is an easy call given his experience and leadership.  I think the Sabres are willing to trade him for a 6th round pick in 2019 if need be.  If nothing else but to give him a shot at the playoffs and as a thank you for putting in his time with the Sabres.  It will be easy to move him.

Falk is a bit more of a stretch, but any team that is a little shallow on their depth might go for him.   A team with a solid top 4 might be willing to give up a prospect if they could get a depth D back in the trade so as to not upset the mix too much.

So, let's say you could send Falk and Kane somewhere for a 1st, a D prospect, etc.  The receiving team doesn't want to let too many pieces go but if they can get a serviceable D in return.....

Never know what might happen.

I think Weber was the last of deals like that, and if I remember the other team had some desperation.

I would love to see Gorges end his playing on a high note with a club running deep into the playoffs. Just don't see a club being that desperate.

Falk I think is a serviceable, easy money contract D man that still has no chance unless there is desperation by a team hit by the injury bug.
