It's not so much hating on him as it is hating on the situation the Sabres find themselves in wherein a guy that is expected to be solidly in the 2nd pairing (on a team w/ nobody showing they are "true" top pairing guys) is knowingly, heading into any particular season, going to miss an absolute bare minimum of 20 games forcing guys that should be 6/7's into that 2nd pairing role for likely 1/3 of a season.

You can make do & even thrive w/ 6 2nd pairing guys. You can't get by for long w/ 2-3 3's & a bunch of 6/7's.

Thing is, Bogo isn't even a solid 2nd pair when he does play. Dude is a 3rd pairing defenseman irrespective of injury status.

It's not funny but it's kinda funny.

If we were in a playoff spot, it wouldn't be funny. But now? Definitely funny.

Is there a more injury-prone player?

Myers, maybe?

Their games played since the trade is pretty similar, but I’d still say Bogosian. Hasn’t played more than 64 games in a season as a Sabre, and has only topped 71 games once in his entire career.

So is McCabe typically. But when their "wonder twin powers activate" they are both legit 3/4's. Of course, that's probably why the coach seperates them so often. Something, something, pretty sure Richer wore B&G. :p

Actually, BOGO has set this up well.  Since we all know his on-ice time is at best 25% of a season, the Sabres can LTIR him for 75% of his remaining 2 years .  That means out of the $10 mil that is owed to BOGO (salary cap-wise) for the next 2 years, the Sabres are on the hook for only $2.5 mil.  Build it in to the budget and and get an available d-man for $7.5 mil for the next 2 years.

Actually, unless they cut or trade him, they're on the hook for every penny (w/ the understanding that depending on total leaguewide player salary that will be adjusted a few denarii). IF (who are we kidding, WHEN) he's on LTIR, the Sabres can more or less replace his salary, but they can't do it preemptively.

Buy out and move on

I don't think that's an option.

Their best bet would be to waive him and hope some kid from Rochester can fill the spot on an ELC. Basically the same treatment as Moulson.

Always injured, yes, but the guy isn't a very good player. He doesn't help the team when he is in the lineup. He isn't a difference maker.

JBot needs to blow up our defense Corp and start over again.

I'd keep Risto - Scandella - McCabe

if we are lucky we can add Dhalin.

Dhalin -

Scandella - Risto

McCabe - Guhle

Dahlin is exactly what this team needs. But, as it stands we only have a 12.5% chance of getting him. Thankfully, there should be several nice defense prospects available depending on where we draft.

Do you guys really think that Dhalin will be a top pairing guy as a rookie?

I don't.  He is a great player and will very likely be a star in the NHL, but not a top pairing guy from the outset.  Although, he is likely to be drafted by a terrible team and will end up being a top pairing guy on that team.

He shouldn't be in his rookie year.

If we draft correctly, we can take BPA in the first 1st and still get a quality defender at 33rd overall.

Acquiring an extra first would be key as well. 3 picks in the Top 33 would put this team's prospect pool on the right track
