ubkev
Seems more like the exception though. That and Cam Newton It only seems that way. Stafford, Manning, Manning, Murray, Russell, Tebow, Cutler, yada, yada, yada...all awesome college QBs.
Brawndo
I really hope not. So ###### sick of Alabama I feel the same way about Bama, but after the events of a few Tuesdays ago ROLL TIDE We hate urban Meyer really. Shocked. That's all I can say. Hell of a performance by both teams. Amazing turn around by Georgia. Go Dawgs. Georgia is a year ahead of schedule with a Top 5 Recruiting Class in coming, they are going to be scary
LGR4GM
Seems more like the exception though. That and Cam NewtonI think in part it is the SEC defenses that also play a roll. Mayfield is great, but if he started 3 years in the SEC do the Sabans and Smarts develop defenses to take away his strengths? Also Alabama has had a qb weakness really since aj McCarran left. Georgia had one after Murray left. Because he tea bagged Mark Richt on the regular.Yes, look up urban Meyer and Florida. Makes sense. Just started following CFB Can anyone explain why the conferences every year have the same style of play? SEC has big defenses, average QBs, and power running games ACC has flash and offensive power. Same with the Pac 12 Sure you can find similar trends for the Big 10 and Big 12. Don't get it though. It's not like there's a salary cap or something prohibiting Alabama from just recruiting every position for the best guy, right? Why don't they ever seem to have a good QB? Conferences develop same styles because that's what wins you the majority of games. The sec for example requires a big nasty defense because the SEC runs through Alabama's big baddy defense. If I was going to play a team in the NFL for years to come and I knew they were always going to have a big, nasty defense, I'd spend all my recruiting resources into the best offense that could match it. It only seems that way. Stafford, Manning, Manning, Murray, Russell, Tebow, Cutler, yada, yada, yada...all awesome college QBs. Good point. Maybe it's just recency bias; thinking of all the titles Bama has won recently and the style of play they've done it with. Then again, USC is always the same team, so is Michigan, so is the U... LGR4GM
I'm talking strictly college. The jump from college to pros is all over the map. The SEC has good qbs. They just don't put up video game numbers. As to making a big nasty offense... take a look at Georgia and their offensive line recruits the last 2 years. SwampD
Doug Jones elected over Roy Moore I get that it is Alabama an' all, but my bar for wishing a fan base good fortune is set way higher than "didn't elect a child molester." LGR4GM
Not sure I can handle another 24 hour sports period like the last one. Bills making the playoffs, Georgia coming back down 17 to Oklahoma... just insanity all around.

JujuFish
Alabama should not have been in the playoffs. I don't care if they're good enough, if they weren't good enough to even play in their conference championship then they don't deserve it. I don't care if they're good enough, if they weren't good enough to even play in their conference championship then they don't deserve it. Conference champs is only a part of the equation - clearly, Alabama is a damn good team as they took down Clemson last night. If you went with just conference champs, you'd have to expand the playoff and a 3-loss conference champ could potentially play in the final. JujuFish
Who would you have sent in their wake? How about the team that actually won their division and beat them head-to-head, Auburn? First of all, which conference champs would you invite to the party ? ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, SEC, etc. Auburn is a very good team, but not as good as Alabama if you look at the entire season. Kinda like Iowa is not as good as Ohio State overall. If Ohio State had beaten Iowa, they would've been in. The season is long enough now and a 4-team playoff makes sense with school schedules and the holidays. I want to see the 4 best teams at year end, not a 3-loss team that got lucky and won a conference championship but lost to 3 more deserving teams. JujuFish
Think we're seeing a Buckeye whine here Hardly. I'm a fan of the Gamecocks. Alabama does not deserve to be in. Simple as that. So we should retroactively award the 2008 Super Bowl to the Patriots. You know, because they were a better team than the Giants "if you look at the entire season". Lol, great analogy considering the number of Division I college football teams. So who in place of Alabama should've been in the final 4 ? JujuFish
But why auburn? I don't know. I just picked them because they're the most relevant argument regarding Alabama, since they beat Alabama and represented the SEC West in the conference championship. They performed better where it mattered. I'm not so much saying that Auburn should be in, rather that Auburn is more deserving than Alabama as can be directly compared. I don't agree but I understand what u mean. I think it's easier to argue UCF should have gone because they went undefeated.
