North Buffalo Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 So the NHL is doing a matchup vote of the great uniforms. They have a picture of Gilbert Perrault in the old Sabre white and then in one in the Navy Blue with Jack Eichel. You can do as many matchups as you can stand. The home white with Perrault is winning in every match up I chose. Here is the link: Keep the white on top and vote as often as you can stand: https://greatestnhluniforms.com/ Quote
erickompositör72 Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 clairvoyant musings- In an upcoming year, the Sabres will give us something new: royal blue goathead. And it will mark the first run we make in the playoffs. Quote
Neo Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 Wow .. Sabres Gil beating Detroit’s Gordy! Quote

darksabre Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 I can't argue with the Leaderboard. I like seeing the Habs on the cusp of falling off. :flirt: Quote

Eleven Posted December 7, 2017 Report Posted December 7, 2017 How come most of the pre-1960s uniforms are grey? Quote
MattPie Posted December 7, 2017 Report Posted December 7, 2017 How come most of the pre-1960s uniforms are grey? Easier to clean? I'd say it's a carryover from baseball, but I think that's the wrong way around (away grey, home color/white). Quote
Taro T Posted December 7, 2017 Report Posted December 7, 2017 How come most of the pre-1960s uniforms are grey? Haven't checked the site, so not positive to what you're referring, but NHL sweaters were most definitely not gray prior to 1960. They've always been colored though several teams only had 1 set prior to the TV age. Red & blue are dissimilar enough for the players & fans in the building to know which team is which. However, for home viewers watching on a little b&w set, having 1 squad wearing white was a huge assist. And as a matter of trivia, TV is also the reason for the red line not being a solid red. Home viewers could tell the lines apart. Quote

They are all black and white photos, which leads to varying shades of grey. ;) Quote

'S'all good, man. Quote
