LGR4GM Posted December 4, 2017 Author Report Posted December 4, 2017 At least we are doing something? right? Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 I have yet to figure out why Larsson gets lopped in with Moulson, Griffith, Criscuolo, etc. He's an NHL caliber defensive/agitating forward. Perfect for the 4th line, suitable for the 3rd in the time being. Not advocating they get rid of him, just trying to figure out who's next off the roster. Maybe a Kane trade is close. Quote
Mustache of God Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 I'm a little discouraged by JBot bringing in a former Pen. It seems like he's making the same mistake XGMTM made in that he prefers players from his old club that he's familiar with. On the other hand, is Wilson AHL fodder to backfill players about to be moved up to the Sabres? Who's next on the waiver wire? Larsson? The difference is Pittsburgh is a repeat stanely cup team and ottawa is ottawa. Quote
matter2003 Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 And here we go...going to be a flurry of moves coming up this week I bet Quote
Amerks8796 Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Definately seems like J-BOT is going to try to keep the Amerks together for the year and fill in the Sabres with pieces until their ready to make the jump.Sexton even said they’re not going to raid the Amerks. If people are expecting a mass of call ups from Rochester it’s not happening this season. They’re preparing that team for a playoff run. Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Interesting to note: He may well be a cap casualty for Detroit, if they're trying to make something else happen or call somebody up. Wow is that team screwed until (possibly) next year. Franzen's LTIR is the only thing keeping them compliant... Yeah, they're in just about as bad a tailspin as the Sabres. The Pens didn't hang 10 goals on the Sabres in two games. The Habs did it to the Wings in one. Quote
MattPie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Sexton even said they’re not going to raid the Amerks. If people are expecting a mass of call ups from Rochester it’s not happening this season. They’re preparing that team for a playoff run. Which is good. The numbers say the Sabres have to be the best team in the league for the rest of the season to even have a shot at the playoffs. Quote
Sabel79 Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Yeah, they're in just about as bad a tailspin as the Sabres. The Pens didn't hang 10 goals on the Sabres in two games. The Habs did it to the Wings in one. I'm talking about nothing other than salary cap issues here... Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 The difference is Pittsburgh is a repeat stanely cup team and ottawa is ottawa. Fair point. I wonder if a big shoe (Kane?) is about to drop before the road trip starts. A road trip can be used to get a team together (including new pieces). I'm talking about nothing other than salary cap issues here... Right, but the team sucks too. Quote
darksabre Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Which is good. The numbers say the Sabres have to be the best team in the league for the rest of the season to even have a shot at the playoffs. Yup. Literally no point in hurting the Amerks for the Sabres sake. Which is why I don't see Ullmark getting called up unless Botterill can replace him with another AHL level goalie. Quote
Sabel79 Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Right, but the team sucks too. Sorry, I have reading comprehension issues again... Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Sorry, I have reading comprehension issues again... Nah, it's all good. Quote
LGR4GM Posted December 4, 2017 Author Report Posted December 4, 2017 Wilson has won 2 Stanley Cups, so that is something to think about. Quote
WildCard Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Judging from the limited two goals I've seen, he seems like faster, more physical Moulson Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Wilson has won 2 Stanley Cups, so that is something to think about. We'll be the team with the greatest percentage of Cup wins on the 4th line, if this keeps up. Quote
WildCard Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Wilson has won 2 Stanley Cups, so that is something to think about. No he hasn't. He's won one https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/w/wilsosc01.html Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Judging from the limited two goals I've seen, he seems like faster, more physical Moulson In that second clip, Matty Mo would just be getting across the blue line when Wilson scored. So Wilson prefers 23? Does Rein give up his number for him? ;) Quote
WildCard Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 No he hasn't. He's won one https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/w/wilsosc01.html Well, that's odd, because Botterill thinks he's won two Cups too @BuffaloSabres #Sabres GM Jason Botterill: "We are very happy to add Scott to our roster. Scott is a hard-working, young player that will be a great fit for our club. As a two-time Stanley Cup Champion, his experience will be an asset both on and off the ice." Quote
Doohicksie Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Eh. Might be one of those "was on the team, didn't play enough games to qualify as official Cup winner" things. Quote
WildCard Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Eh. Might be one of those "was on the team, didn't play enough games to qualify as official Cup winner" things. Yeah he played 24 games the first time around on the Pens, when they won their first of back-to-back Cups. Just never got to play in the playoffs Quote
North Buffalo Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Moving dirt around let me know when a substantial trade is made. Quote

Wilson was on the roster in 2016, but did not play in the playoff. Maybe that counts? Quote
