Drunkard Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 For the first one, yeah. Maybe after riding the AHL bus for 5 months and taking cheap shots from guys trying to make a name for themselves, he says, "I'm getting too old for this smurf" and retires, leaving 12% of the contract on the table and retires comfortably on the money he has. Does that really seem that impossible? On the flip side, maybe MM has spent a ton of his money on team dinners and doing the math figures he can't live the life he wants on what he has left and when an offer comes in from Locomotiv METALursk for $5M/yr, he goes for it. Also not impossible. I could definitely see the first one. He bites the bullet, swallows his pride, and reports for duty and finishes out the rest of the season. Then after he gets his signing bonus on July 1st, opts to officially retire on July 2nd, leaving just $2 million on the table of his $25 million deal (only 8%). Quote

MODO Hockey Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Moulson assigned to the Ontario Reign. Huh? Quote
Jacque Richard Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 I dunno about that ... might breath new life into the old dog. Maybe the Isles will take him back for a song and dance ? and score some goals again Quote
darksabre Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) Huh? The Sabres are loaning him to the Ontario Reign, who play in Ontario, California, not Canada. Moulson's wife's sister is married to Jonathan Quick, so there's a family connection for them out there. Edited December 5, 2017 by d4rksabre Quote
Drunkard Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Moulson assigned to the Ontario Reign. Wasn't expecting that. You'd think that with young kids he'd prefer to go an hour down the road to Rochester. Quote

Unless they all plan to move out there. Quote

Gramps Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 I think that is probably the plan. Most likely, his kids are fairly young so school is not an issue and I'm sure the wife would love to be close to her sis. Quote

Honestly, if I were in his shoes, I take that deal every day. Don't have to deal with LA traffic, a bunch of National Forest land nearby. notbadobamaface.jpg Quote

pi2000 Posted December 5, 2017 Author Report Posted December 5, 2017 "Matt, you're gonna have to retire." "No way. 8 mil." "Matt, enjoy Ontario. Ontario California." Ontario is farming town about an hour east of LA. One of my boys played out there a few weeks ago. More like a midwest town. Quote

Crusader1969 Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Do you think Reino and Eichel look like mature, consistent, motivated leaders? they are both in their early 20's., they shouldn't be leaders at this time. I think thats the Sabres biggest issue at the moment. bringing in fringe Stanley Cup winners is a start, but they really need to find their Drury 2.0. How old was Drury when the Sabres traded for him? Per Botterill News Release #Sabres loaned Matt Moulson to #LAKings' AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, because they didn't want to take away from young forwards' ice time with Rochester Americans. I know we like to complain about the owner but we definitely can not complain about his willingness to let the GM do his thing, no matter what money it costs him. Quote
