I don't think Ullmark really needs any more time in Rochester

That may be true but does Buffalo need Ullmark right now?

He's the goalie we deserve but not the one we need right now... couldn't. resist.

Well, he needs the calder cup thats for sure.

But no, he dont need more seasons in Rochester.

If Ullmark doesnt become our starter next season im gonna be pissed.

Ullmark our 1st, Halak on backup, that is what i would like to see.

Regarding NYR listening on Zuccarello, i would fkn jump to the moon if we got Zucca, this guy is incredible.

Give Zucca a good center and he will score the living sh1t out of teams were facing, he is sooo talanted.

Edit: Zucca played in MODO same time as Ullmark did, it was a god d4mn plesure to watch, he can do the most magical stuff with his stick. Trade Kane for Zucca, that would be a bless for our team.

Why do we want Halak?

Yea.. it was said.. but we don't.  We just need a schlub between the pipes.

He needs time in Rochester more than he needs time in Buffalo this season.  Next season he needs all his time in Buffalo. :)

Who would be the tendy in Roch?   Johansson?

I hope Ullmark makes the jump next season, but there's still some glaring issues with his game that concern me long term.

That and Lehner may have finalky figured a few things out. He is playing a lot better recently.... hate throw the baby out with the bath water. Lets see if he reverts.

I think it's Ullmark's net next year.  I can't see them giving Lehner a raise (which he will want and think gets being tendered as an RFA).  And I don't think Lehner will take another 1 year prove it deal.  That would be over $4 mill for a backup.  Not gonna happen.

Until he can stop shootout shots, I don't want him near a Sabres team that's actually trying to compete.

If the Islanders do not acquire a goaltender at the trade deadline then John Tavares should honestly ask himself if he wants to be part of that team next year.  They are killing it on offense but their goaltending is flat out awful.  It's pretty much the worst in the league.  They are a borderline playoff team and every day they waste with Halak and Greiss in net is a day they move further from solidifying their spot in this years playoffs.

There's no reason for them to be 2nd in goals scored and DFL in goals against.  They need to make some moves.  It would be instuling to the fan base to not make the playoffs with that kind of offensive output.

Lehner gives them a goaltender into next season that they control.  Not sure they are getting that from anyone else.  I wonder if they'd go for Lehner, Gorges for Halak and some other parts?  :)

We want Halak so Ullmark can stay in Rochester and because the Islanders will want to dump a goalie and a contract if they are bringing in same.

We do not want Halak long-term. Some people seem to think he’s at the level he was five years ago.

He’s not. He’s bad - way closer to Johnson than Lehner and should not be re-signed

I’m with LTS. Move makes sense. Question is, what piece will Snow be willing to give up.

Also, I listened to the Botterill interview.

If O’Reilly is going anywhere, it’s for a king’s ransom.

Either Botterill considers Ryan a core piece, or he is an outstanding poker player.

And that’s the important question. There’s no reason to take on a substantially worse netmimder in a trade unless the Islanders even up that deal.

And one that's UFA this season (and unlikely to sign, given the last go-around). Yep; LI needs to send more back.

Elliot Friedman said just now on Sportsnet he’d be very surprised if the Sabres moved O’Reilly, after he did some digging. Said the Sabres want to keep him, even though teams have asked.

He’s not getting traded.

Does any of their 2014 class work? Dal Colle, Toews, Sorokin, Soderstrom, Ho Sang?

I’d be partial to Dal Colle in a buy-low, pretty good upside type of way.

Did you hear Botterill’s GR interview?

He basically laughed at the idea.

Said there is 100 per cent of a chance O’Reilly will be here after the deadline, and reiterated his belief in winning with strength down the middle.

Toews is intriguing to me in an under-the-radar kind of way.

Michigan defenceman who can move the puck, so Botts has got to be very aware of him.

Yup. And Elliot’s comments matched up perfectly with that. The host lead in by mentioning an O’Reilly trade was a possibility, and Friedman for all intents and purposes shot it down. It was as firm as you’d get from a guy like Friedman.

There are no current top-6 LWs to speak of, core wise, but Botterill seems pretty set on most of the other 4 pieces of the top-6 core in Eichel, O’Reilly, and Okposo (in his case, whether or not Botterill finds that preferable or not).

I think there’s still a possibility Reinhart is moved, but it’s looking more and more like 4 players of the top-6 is set, in Botterill’s eyes.

From McKenzie

Bob McKenzie said on Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading the New York Rangers ask for Rick Nash is similar to the price tag the Buffalo Sabres have put on Evander Kane.

McKenzie lists the current price for the 33-year-old forward at "a first-round pick, a top prospect and another lesser player, or prospect or pick in combination with those."

McKenzie notes that many general managers around the league feel that price is simply too high for a rental player. He believes a more realistic price, and likely what each player will move for, is a first-round pick and either a second-round pick or a prospect.
