How do you know he loves the area?

There's a similar position on The Stadium Wall regarding Kirk Cousins. Someone says he likes Buffalo and has ties there. Where did that come from?

I posted the quote and clarification

Anything good they'd send? I really am done with picks

I understand where you are coming from, but the prospect pool really could use some refreshing particularly on defense and the back half of the first round has defensive depth. Here are their Top 5 Prospects per NHL.com

Wouldn’t mind a trade with the Ducks either

They're heavy on right wing. I'd take Timo Meier.

So Hockey's Future, FWIW, has the Sharks strengths as offensive, puck-moving defensemen

So, how about 20 year old Jeremy Roy

Jeremy Roy is a gifted two-way defenceman that establishes his presence on the ice through playing authoritative hockey, with and without the puck. His absolute and total awareness of other players' positions on the ice is a testament to his incredible knowledge of the game. Roy possesses the intangibles of maturity and character that can't be taught, as well as the individual skill that turns heads every time he is on the ice. All-in-all, a highly intelligent defenceman that plays high-percentage hockey and is a catalyst for positive plays in all three zones. (Curtis Joe, EP 2014)

When talking to scouts about Jeremy Roy, the name Duncan Keith often shows up in the same sentence; the offensive and defensive traits embodied by the Chicago Blackhawks star defenseman seem to be akin to what the young Roy aspires to.

Edit: Never mind, the guy has a horrendous injury history

Granted I know nothing about him outside of this report, but Meier sounds a little too slow/old school for me. Not enough speed and raw offensive talent we need

A physically dominant winger with the ability to play in a skill or character role. In the offensive end, Meier is very aware and gets himself into spaces where he can easily make seeing eye passes or snap hard, accurate shots. Can impact the game in a number of different ways, and is very consistent in his efforts. All-in-all, the kind of versatile player who you can put on a skill line, and trust to create dangerous chances, or on a shutdown line, and trust to help stop pucks from going into your net. (Curtis Joe, EP 2014)

The knock on Meier is his quickness, which worries me. I would personally rather see Joshua Norris back in a trade over Meier. Can we also talk about Jeremy Roy's picture on Eliteprospects? He looks like he just saw a snake and is like, "eek a snake!"

Norris, compares stylistically to a faster ROR

I just kinda threw Meier out there because I suspect his value is in line with what we can expect to get back for Kane, but I have no complaints about Norris either.

I have no complaint with either to be honest. I haven't seen Meier skate in over a year because I don't follow them much after they get drafted unless I really like them (Boeser for example).

I will add that Norris played with Tkchuck for team USA and they had some chemistry together. Could trade for Morris, add in Tkachuk at the draft and have a very interesting dynamic there.

Not to pick on anyone in particular but of these past few posts on what we'll get for Kane..........

He's the 7th leading scorer for LWs in the league and has over 40 goals in the past calendar year. Plus he's in the prime of his career.

I'll be very disappointed in Botts if he only gets what some of you have posted,

Andersson who's accomplished nothing so far and Bennet who's a bigger bust than Samson??? There better be another prospect (Valimaki??) included

But he's a rental. You have to take that in to account. It's not like he's under contract for two more years or something.

When you sell rentals, you take what you can get. I hope people understand that Kane's return, despite his play this season, is not going to be huge.

FWIW Friedman wrote Botterill wants a 'home run' for Kane

.........Yea that guy. lol

To be fair I do like Juolevi.

:nana:

The return for Kane and Eichel's consistency are pretty much the two things keeping me watching this season. What Kane gives us will be huge for where we are in 3 years

Define "home run".

Haha definitely a vague term at best. For me, that would be

1 A prospect, 1 C prospect, and a mid 20's, NHL pro top 6 player

So Bennett, Valimaki, and a conditional 1st (Lottery protected)

Which one is which here? I wanna say

Bennett = pro player

Valimaki = A prospect

Lottery protected pick = C prospect

Is Bennett a top 6 anymore though? Seems like a pretty big bust. I like Valimaki a lot though

I think Bennett has potential but def a risk.  Kane replaces him on the LW though so it makes sense. Plus we retain 50% of Kane's salary and take on Bennett's small salary. Numbers are close.
