Taro T Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 Antipin getting some tough minutes. Have a real good suspicion as to why PH isn't playing him every game, but would just love it if they did. What is your suspicion? I’ve been looking at it as making the rookie earn it; the brass wants him learning in Rochester, but they can’t do that for contract reasons so he gets tough love here. That and Phil’s unhealthy love of Nathan Beaulieu. Curious as well. Would also throw in a potential hated of all things formerly Soviet. Expecting your take will be better. ;) Quote
woods-racer Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 (edited) Antipin has been doing well considering his competition. Not sure of his zone starts, if he's still being sheltered with a majority of O-zone starts he isn't playing as well as I think he is. 60.4% offensive, 39.6% defensive Thanks Skugs. The trust from the coaching staff still isn't there. Oddly there for Baloo who is at 50/50 roughly. He also somehow has a positive corsi. Sometimes the eye test still matters. That makes it sound as if it's a no brainer when Baloo is healthy for the coaching staff to put him in Antipins spot. My eye test still says different. Ha! Good one! Looks like Phil wanted to score bad and Antipin was his only hope on D. He only had 13:13 TOI but 20 shifts. By comparison Jack, Sam and Kyle had 21,22,22 shifts respectively but each had a lot more TOI. Offensive zone starts and quick changes for Victor. My suspicion is Baloo looks better on paper and PH feels that Antipin is a bigger liability in the D-zone than Baloo. I just think that Antipin has a bigger upside than Baloo and as he has gotten more ice time Antipin has progressed. Baloo has not changed, and is playing at the level we have seen him play since training camp. And as some others have suggested, PH may see Baloo as a pet project, because Baloo reminds PH of his younger self. Edited February 11, 2018 by skogslopp Quote

rakish Posted February 11, 2018 Author Report Posted February 11, 2018 Easiest night for a Risto since you started doing this? Boston seems most interested in getting their top line against your weakest defenseman when they are home. I remember an earlier Boston game where they targeted either Antipin or Beauleau, I forget which Quote
dudacek Posted February 11, 2018 Report Posted February 11, 2018 If they were targeting Scandella and Nelson, Housley was happy to let them. And, for one game at least, he was right. Quote
woods-racer Posted February 11, 2018 Report Posted February 11, 2018 I thought Nelson had his best game to date considering his competition. Could have tied up his man a little better on the first goal, and Johnson could have done a better job of covering the net, if either/or would have happen that first goal wouldn't have happened. dudacek Posted February 15, 2018 Report Posted February 15, 2018 (edited) The Tampa one surprises me. I thought O’Reilly was out there against Stamkos every shift. Or maybe the number is lower because he was out there against everbody? Edited February 15, 2018 by Mick O’Manly Quote
rakish Posted February 15, 2018 Author Report Posted February 15, 2018 I have minutes you play with teammates, but not individually against opposition. I hadn't really thought of looking at it daily when I made the charts, I might add that next time I sit down and code Quote
rakish Posted February 15, 2018 Author Report Posted February 15, 2018 Looking at it further, Stamkos was playing a lot with Kutcherov, but in the last 5 games, they generally aren't out together. Stamkos yesterday played more with Johnson and some guy named Gourde, who has too many points for someone I've never heard of. Both Johnson and Gourde get about 2 minutes per game or PP time, while Stamkos, Kucherov, and Namesikov get about 4 minutes per game Quote
woods-racer Posted February 15, 2018 Report Posted February 15, 2018 Tampa has a fast skilled team and tough to match up against is my take on it then. Quote
