woods-racer Posted January 20, 2018 Report Posted January 20, 2018 It looks like the Sabres and Rangers are 2 fairly well matched teams. I didn't really notice during the game that Pominville was basically matched up with the Rangers top lines. But, looking back I can see that could be why he didn't look to have a very good game. woods-racer Posted February 1, 2018 Report Posted February 1, 2018 Antipin has been doing well considering his competition. Not sure of his zone starts, if he's still being sheltered with a majority of O-zone starts he isn't playing as well as I think he is. Quote

LGR4GM Posted February 1, 2018 Report Posted February 1, 2018 Thanks Skugs. The trust from the coaching staff still isn't there. Oddly there for Baloo who is at 50/50 roughly. He also somehow has a positive corsi. Sometimes the eye test still matters. Quote
woods-racer Posted February 1, 2018 Report Posted February 1, 2018 That makes it sound as if it's a no brainer when Baloo is healthy for the coaching staff to put him in Antipins spot. My eye test still says different. Quote

When Antipin is on the ice, the shooting percentage is much higher on the offensive end, as compared to Beaulieu, and much lower in the defensive end. Since shots barely correlate to winning, and shooting percentage highly correlate to winning, it makes sense to me that what is considered 'eye test' is on ice shooting percentage rather than shots. woods-racer Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 Ha! Good one! Looks like Phil wanted to score bad and Antipin was his only hope on D. He only had 13:13 TOI but 20 shifts. By comparison Jack, Sam and Kyle had 21,22,22 shifts respectively but each had a lot more TOI. Offensive zone starts and quick changes for Victor. Quote

Have a real good suspicion as to why PH isn't playing him every game, but would just love it if they did. What is your suspicion? I’ve been looking at it as making the rookie earn it; the brass wants him learning in Rochester, but they can’t do that for contract reasons so he gets tough love here. That and Phil’s unhealthy love of Nathan Beaulieu. Quote
