Eleven Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 Odd, is he sending a message to eichel If I'm reading it right--I may not be--it means that Housley matched up Eichel against Carolina's worst players, which isn't a bad strategy. Quote
Weave Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 If I'm reading it right--I may not be--it means that Housley matched up Eichel against Carolina's worst players, which isn't a bad strategy. And what is really telling is Jack’s lack of impact playing against The Canes worst. Quote

And what is really telling is Jack’s lack of impact playing against The Canes worst. They may not be their worst defensive players, though. All it tells us is that Phil doesn't trust Jack to defend against their best offensive players. Quote
woods-racer Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 Faulk and Scandella have been very pleasant surprises. They are getting tough minutes and doing well. Scandella shouldn't have been thrust into top pairing and Faulk into top four, but they have been and have played above my expectations. The O'Reilly / Pouliot line is the only forward line that is playing up to expectations. Tough minutes and holding their own if not better. The rest of the team is slightly to majorly underachieving. Kane is the wild card. He plays his style and has not let of the gas. Quote

woods-racer Posted November 21, 2017 Report Posted November 21, 2017 By the low-ness of the Columbus numbers I would have thought somewhere within the Sabres line up that someone would have had a good night. Quote
rakish Posted November 21, 2017 Author Report Posted November 21, 2017 No, I think it means that Columbus does not get a lot of PP minutes Quote
woods-racer Posted November 21, 2017 Report Posted November 21, 2017 No, I think it means that Columbus does not get a lot of PP minutes Thank you for clarifying. Is that because they don't have the speed and skill to draw penalties? Or, do you believe it's more of a *puck luck* scenerio that has them at a 30th (?) ranked PP ? Quote
rakish Posted November 21, 2017 Author Report Posted November 21, 2017 (edited) I was just guessing. Now that I look at the team stats, Columbus is second lowest in the league for PP attempts, which is the number that makes today's numbers small As to why, I don't know Edited November 21, 2017 by rakish Quote

woods-racer Posted November 23, 2017 Report Posted November 23, 2017 With Reinhart playing more top six minutes it shows in his number, he seems to be playing better also. Girgensons seems to be in Housleys dog house. I'm not sure if he's ever going to get another coach like Nolan. I thought by now he would be some what effective. Quote

woods-racer Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Thanks rakish for plugging away! It's just proof that week after week some very high 1st round draft picks on his team are not pulling their weight. The real problem is we have a gaggle of them and we can't just replace them in the near future. They where supposed to be our future. Quote

WildCard Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 So if I'm reading this right, these are the rankings of players you believe play against the opponents most offensively gifted forwards? Quote
rakish Posted December 6, 2017 Author Report Posted December 6, 2017 (edited) Not rankings, time. When Risto was on the ice, his opponent forwards played on the power play the most, in his case an average of 9.61 playing even strength.
