WildCard
“Over the weekend, I started to hear the name Sam Reinhart,” began NHL Insider Friedman during a Monday appearance on NHL Network. “And I think a lot of people were talking about that because Sam Reinhart was kind of demoted in the lineup and he had gotten off to a really rough start. It wasn’t all his fault. As you said, a lot of the team was getting off to a rough start. But his name started to come around there. “And when I looked into it, I think the thing they feel and the thing you kind of mentioned is it’s a new regime in Buffalo. You don’t want to make snap decisions that you’re going to regret later. I think that they feel that five games into a season you’re not necessarily going to do something simply because you feel the need to do it. “Now, could I see a situation where Reinhart becomes available later in the year? Maybe. But I think that the Sabres are kind of looking at it right now as, ‘This is too soon. We still have some work to do to really discover what we’ve got here.’ “But I wouldn’t be surprised if his name starts popping up maybe later in the year if things don’t solidify.” https://www.fanragsports.com/friedman-sabres-trying-to-avoid-snap-decision-on-reinhart/
Doohicksie
They can't do that. Reino is my only current Sabres jersey.
That Aud Smell
Very interesting. Many of us begged, pleaded, and prayed that Reinhart would be allowed to center his own line. And, yeah, he's not been given much to work with, but if they keep him away from Eichel and outside the top-6, what will come to pass? Is he going to show himself as the sort of player who can do quite well if paired with a locomotive sort of player, but who can't do much to force the issue on his own? Or, do we already know that that's who he is? The decision not to re-sign him this summer is starting to seem like a no-brainer.
TrueBlueGED
Reinhart continues to absolutely crush all shot metrics. He's been by far our best player in this regard.
Randall Flagg
Reinhart continues to absolutely crush all shot metrics. He's been by far our best player in this regard. What's his QOC like? And how many of those are high-danger scoring chances? Because my eye test suggests he really hasn't come all that close to actual production, in part because of his linemates' inabilities to do anything. French Collection
Last game was his best of the season. Granted, he did not register a point, but that will come. Whether he plays centre or wing, let's give him way more time. In the near future I think he can be the 2C with ROR on the wing or at 3C. ROR would still take draws. WildCard
Reinhart continues to absolutely crush all shot metrics. He's been by far our best player in this regard. I think it all depends on Nylander. Nylander makes Reinhart expendable; I'm taking for granted that Mittelstadt will pan out and be ahead of both of them
dudacek
Like the team in general, this is defining season for Sam Reinhart. Like the team in general, I'm not prepared to pass judgement after six games. Glad to read that is also the path JBot will take. I will say that I refuse to give up on the centre idea until he gets a month between two wingers who can skate and finish. And I will also say that he needs to succeed on his own, regardless of the role in which he is cast. Derrico
Come on Wildcard, Casey is already wayyyyyyyyyyyy above both of them combined.
SwampD
Why the would we get rid of Samson? So, this is an article from one guy in the media talking about what some other guy in the media thinks? I guess this is the news world in which we now live in. Derrico
Ya, no way we're getting rid of Sam. He's just so smart with the puck. Why would we have him playing third line winger minutes and then trade him while his value is low?

WildCard
Disagree. We don't have enough talent to call someone with his skills expendable If Nylander and Middelstatd pan out he is expendable.
LGR4GM
If Nylander and Middelstatd pan out he is expendable. No he isn't. We need talent throughout the lineup. Until I have players I know are pushing him down to the 4th line, he's not expendable. We need talent.

WildCard
If Nylander and Mittelstadt pan out perhaps they're expendable. True. Though I think Mittelstadt is the only one for sure not going: he was JBot's pick

WildCard
Even then what if Reinhart is still putting up 40+ points? Trade one of them for defense, if we still need it. You can convince some team he's a 2nd line center, then move him for that price
