MODO Hockey Posted March 5, 2018 Report Posted March 5, 2018 Can buffalo send down reinforcements as they want ? how does this work ? Quote
dudacek Posted March 5, 2018 Report Posted March 5, 2018 Nylander with points in each of his last five and 12 points in his past 15 games. The kid has to produce, because, from what I’ve seen, he doesn’t really bring anything else. Quote
MattPie Posted March 5, 2018 Report Posted March 5, 2018 Can buffalo send down reinforcements as they want ? how does this work ? It's talked about some above, but the player had to be (on paper) on the Amerk's roster on Feb 26th to play in the playoffs. The Sabres did this with Criscuolo and Baptiste. The Sabres can send guys down after that, but they can't play in the playoffs, and they'd have to pass whatever waiver/no-movement checks. Quote

If Nylander can develop into a real contributor (even if it's as an offensive/PP specialist) that would be huge. Quote

Still have hope for him on Jacks wing. He can skate with Jack like only Kane could and finish like Kane could only dream of. His problem has consistently been bringing those skills to play in actual games. Quote

Allright, figure. Thanks! Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted March 7, 2018 Report Posted March 7, 2018 Allright, figure. Thanks! I’m not sure that is accurate. Casey Mittelstadt can be signed to an AHL ATO after the college season ends and still players for the Amerks in the playoffs. Zach Werenski did it 2 seasons ago. Clear Day rosters for the AHL were eliminated in the last CBA. That doesn’t mean their aren’t some subtle rules governing service time in the NHL or other waiver rules that could prevent teams from dropping players back to the AHL to play in the playoffs. However my guess is anyone who doesn’t have to pass through waivers can be sent down at any time and be eligible for the playoffs. Quote
Lanny Posted March 7, 2018 Report Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) American Hockey League rules state players must be on the roster at 3 p.m. today in order to be eligible to be sent down from the NHL for the rest of the year. Buffalo sent Nelson and Baptiste to the Amerks. They are likely just paper transactions, meaning the duo should be around for practice Tuesday. http://buffalonews.com/2018/02/26/sabres-make-nelson-baptiste-eligible-for-ahl-playoffs/ Mittelstadt could go because he's not coming from the NHL. pastajoe Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Saw Amerks in Syracuse last night. Wilcox played well in goal. It hurts that 8 of the best Amerks were missing through call up or injury. Crunch were a bit faster. First two Crunch goals reminded me of mistakes Sabres make. Amerk gets puck in D zone near blue line, and instead of making simple play to get it over blue line they putz around and turn it over. So the puck goes cross ice in the zone and the Crunch scored. Amerks got two PP goals, but Crunch got empty net and won 4-2. Quote
inkman Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Heading to Amerks game at 3. Unfortunately its more of a ECHL lineup sprinkled in with a few AHLvets. Quote

Ho-Chi-Sock Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Just tuned in, I don't know who these commentators are, but after 5 seconds I do know I want the PBP guy taking over for Duffer/Dunleavy and the color guy moving Razor permanently to the sideline. Quote
Brawndo Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Don Stevens and he is pretty damn good Quote
darksabre Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Don is good but he's getting old. I don't think he'd even want to leave the Amerks anyway. Quote
inkman Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Don is good but he's getting old. I don't think he'd even want to leave the Amerks anyway. This. Maybe an extra zero on his paycheck would entice him but everything I've heard, he's here until he retires. Quote

inkman Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Amerks give up 2 in last 6 minutes to force OT. UGH. Quote

Do you realize that the Amerks have 16 OT/SO loses this year? I’m not sure what that means. On the positive it means they are in every game. On the negative it may mean Ullmark might have similar issues to Lehner or we don’t have good enough forwards who can finish in OT and the SO. Quote

I just know watching Ullmark he didn't look lost on each shooter. That's the thing... Lehner looks like he is trying to guess every shooter and Ullmark just looked patient. We've talked about Lehner needing to play a calm game. When he does that he's a much better goaltender. Quote

Two bone head plays lead directly to Syracuse scoring changes yesterday. Get this kid out of the org. He ain't gonna make it. You can give me a shout out on SS if you are looking for company at the game. :) Edited March 12, 2018 by inkman Quote

It was my son's schools chorus that sang the National Anthem.. we showed up to support them. I didn't notice Nylander on the ice all that much. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to move him in the offseason. Quote
