LGR4GM Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Housley said that Bailey had a fantastic camp and he is close to NHL ready. http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-hope-healthy-defense-corps-opener/ Many of us were worried about the lack of younger guys making the team. I think, at least in Justin's case, he is close to making the team and that for now he just needs to be patient. Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 *We* need to be patient. He needs a sense of urgency. Quote
Crusader1969 Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Hi just turned 22 and have no worries about his development. As Ray Ferraro once said "no body ever got worse by playing in the AHL" Quote
Weave Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Housley also said Dlo haf a great camp. I'm not inclined to take that at face value. Quote
LGR4GM Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 Housley also said Dlo haf a great camp. I'm not inclined to take that at face value. I think saying a player had a great camp and saying a young player is close are different. Quote
pi2000 Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Housley also said Dlo haf a great camp. I'm not inclined to take that at face value. Has anyone ever heard Housley say somebody didn't have a good camp? I'm getting the sense that he only has nice things to say when speaking with the media. Quote
Weave Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Has anyone ever heard Housley say somebody didn't have a good camp? I'm getting the sense that he only has nice things to say when speaking with the media. As he should. And I don't believe him. As I should. I think saying a player had a great camp and saying a young player is close are different. Pi covered it. Quote
LGR4GM Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 I don't think he covered it. Housley expanded on Bailey and added more than a boiler plate answer of he had a good camp. Quote
Weave Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 I have reached the point where I expect Luke Adam 2.0. Quote
LGR4GM Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 I have reached the point where I expect Luke Adam 2.0. Any particular reason why or just the way you feel? Quote
qwksndmonster Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 My patience with Housley is growing thin.At 0 regular season games played? Why didn't your patience with Bylsma ever thin? Quote
Weave Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Any particular reason why or just the way you feel? He doesn't stand out to me any more this season than he did last. I don't see any improvement in his overall game. Same hands, same play, same results. If he were trending towards developing into a full time NHLer I would have expected to see more of "it" than he showed last year. But his bucket of "it" seems to be unchanged. Quote
nfreeman Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 I liked what I saw of Bailey, but he obviously didn't earn a spot, which is kinda disappointing since there were several available. I also think Howie's philosophy is positive reinforcement, which I am fine with. Bottom line is that Bailey will probably get one or 2 more opportunities this year, but if he doesn't take advantage of them, that will probably be it. Quote
woods-racer Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Bailey discussion only please. I totally missed something. Quote
MattPie Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 I totally missed something. This drifted into a lot of Housely discussion, which presumably has been moved over to the appropriate thread. Quote
qwksndmonster Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 God forbid a conversation changes topic. That's never happened before. Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) I like cake. Especially chocolate cake. EDIT: I hear Justin Bailey likes chocolate cake, too. (Post is now properly on topic) Edited October 2, 2017 by Doohickie Quote

Pokey Jones Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Housley is simply showing the signs of being an nhl coach. Say nice things in public. Keep the truth behind closed doors. Before camp started they probably figured Bailey for the roster. They gave him every chance and prodded him to show it but he didn't. So now he's back to the minors and he's "close", which is another way of saying he needs to be better. Will he be? Not seen a thing to indicate he takes the final step. Let's hope he does. Quote
Huckleberry Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Nice thing to say if you want to up his trade value. :P Quote
