WildCard Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 @Matt_Bove Jake McCabe has an upper body injury and is week-to-week #Sabres @WKBW Quote
Doohicksie Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 So who steps into his place on the opening night roster if he's not ready to go? Quote
WildCard Posted September 25, 2017 Author Report Posted September 25, 2017 @ByMHarrington Housley says Rodrigues has a hand injury. Status TBA. McCabe upper body week to week. Optimistic for opener. #Sabres Quote
Randall Flagg Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Week-to-week, yet optimistic for the opener in 10 days? Quote
Taro T Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Week-to-week, yet optimistic for the opener in 10 days? Saying they expect him to be out at least 1 week but hopefully not 2 or 3. Quote
LGR4GM Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Guess that frees up a LHD spot for a little while. Quote
Thorner Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Here we go again... Ya. I mean, it sounds pessimistic, but we are seemingly always near the top of the league in man games lost, and this news does nothing to curb the worry for me that we'll be right there again. Could potentially be without 2/3rds of our left D side to start: Scandella and McCabe. Wings dropping, too. It's training camp and we are already without 4 guys. At least they'll have the built in "injuries" excuse to work with, again. :/ Quote
LGR4GM Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) What wingers are dropping? Are we really losing our over ERod being out for a bit? It's gonna be a long season. Edited September 25, 2017 by LGR4GM Quote

I'm not losing my #####, relax. Rodrigues, and Nylander. It at least seemed that the staff were eager to give Nylander a real chance to make the roster this year. Then add in the D. Bogosian isn't even injured yet. How many other teams have 4 injured players already, just during training camp activity? We talked about the Leafs injury luck last season, how many injuries do they have so far? Is it truly all luck and coincidence? Likely. But there could be something more to it. I just don't like the early season trend so far. Edited September 25, 2017 by Thorny Quote

Pokey Jones Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Well obviously this team does not have the depth to handle a lot of injuries and if we get them we are toast for sure, but there's nothing big yet, nobody's out for the year or months, just a few minor issues. The only one that worries me right now is Scandella cause he has a history and I have a small worry maybe we got saddled with damaged goods that can't be fully fixed. But that's just a maybe, no reason to worry about injuries just yet. Quote
Thorner Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 What have you done with the real Pokey? Quote
Pokey Jones Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 Hey, I'm a fan. I'm just not one of those fans who doesn't face reality. Show me something to cheer about and I'll be cheering but I've run out of blind optimism. or in other words, still here :) Quote
Derrico Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 I forgot Rogers had a perv 'stach. Or was that Movember? Quote
Thorner Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 ^Hard to say. I don't think the 'stach in the picture corresponds to when he uttered the famous quote, but I'm not positive. If it was, it wouldn't have been for Movember as he said it after early-season struggles. Verdict: he pulls off the 'stache. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 In the games that have been on television, Falk, Fedun, and Tennyson have clearly outplayed Gorges. Gorges is in a tier with Goloubef and Guhle in terms of what they've shown in those two games. This has been reflected in Gorges' early pairings (though he moved up for today's practice), with guys like the Goloubef character (not sure if I have his name right). I really, really hope that this means that Housley can see that Gorges is done. Gifting him the 7 spot over better players in Falk, Fedun, and Tennyson (in some order) and thus using him in a situation where McCabe is hurt will actively hurt this team whose depth is already stretched thin, for no reason whatsoever. We can't afford to ice a team early on that is worse than it has to be just to make somebody feel better. Quote

And if the best of the bunch is Fedun or Tennyson, play Antipin on the left side until McCabe is back. Quote
