Kyle who?

I’ve said this before, but I might dress 7 D, and only 11 forwards and double shift someone like Kane, Jack, Ko and ROR to get more offense. Wowie shortens his bench in the 3rd anyway, so does getting 5 minutes from Moulson spread out over 4 guys really hurt? The 7th D could be Baloo or Antipin as a PP specialist or Gorges as a Pker.

Hmm.  Is that why we can't hold 3rd period leads?

Haven’t watched, but as far as I can tell from what I’ve read, he’s been their top offensive centre.

What forward went down?

And Nelson ahead of Guhle? JBot really is trying to prove a point.

I'm okay with Nelson ahead of Guhle.  Develop Guhle the right way; don't rush him.  That's what JBot's philosophy is:  Grow through the farm team.  That's been the problem with the Sabres since the tank- they've tried to push too many players right up to the NHL (Rasmus, Gus, arguably even Jack).  Bring them up when they're ready.

I'd actually hope he comes to play 4th line Center, put Girgensons on the 3rd line with Larry and Pommy. IMO that would help that line be a little harder to play against.

The first 2 lines seem set especially with Pouliot finding some chemistry with ROR and Kyle O. and Samson finding the same with Jack and Kane.

A great explanation from Chris Taylor on why Guhle has not been called up

One might also point to the (admittedly small sample size) of his callup last year when he played three games, took no penalties, and was a +1, and looked pretty darned ready then.

Still, I'd rather have him coming up to confidently play a top 4 slot than to be a 6/7, when he comes up.

So that’s who Criscuolo is replacing.

Or at least his roster spot. Probably means Girgs is back to the wing.

Apparently Wowie practiced Criscuolo with the 4th line and said he isn’t sure he’ll dress him tomorrow. This makes no sense to me. Why bring up the Amerks top center and not play him when we are desperate for effort and scoring from the bottom two lines? Why also limit a scoring center to 4th line duty? Edited by GASabresIUFAN

Meh.  It happens all the time.  That's how a lot of prospects break into the league.

Doesn’t make it right or smart. What has Larsson shown that says he should be playing ahead of Criscuolo at this point?

He always plays hard, makes good decisions, doesn't make mistakes, processes the game at an NHL level, is defensively responsible, has good line-mate awareness

A perfect 4th line center.  He creates no offense, doesn't make the players around him more effective and lacks speed or a physical game.

I'm not saying Criscuolo will be a better in the NHL then Larsson.  He is a very small player, but has speed and is a proven scorer in college and the AHL.  We need more offense from the 3rd line.  Larsson won't give us that.  How could it hurt to put a goal scorer on a line where he might get minutes and opportunities to score.  We talk all the time about putting people in the best place to succeed.  I'm sorry but bringing up a scorer to fill a checking role isn't putting someone in the best place to succeed.  We are last in the East in points, goals for, and goals against. What do we have to lose at this point?

This team is almost unwatchable. At least the Amerks have a team. At this point leave all the kids in Roch. Let them have a fun great season. Lets beat the dead horse here in Buffalo, get our lottery pick and try again next year.

It's frustrating because the worse the big club reveals itself to be this year, the more we'll need to hope for from the kids in Rochester, if they are to turn things around on the Sabres.

At this point, I’m leaving Nylander, Smith, Bailey, Baptiste, Guhle and Ullmark in Roch all season. Let them grow as a group and learn to win together and play some playoff hockey. Then give them roles in Buffalo next season.

I don’t see any benefit to bringing them up until we clear out that Buffalo lockerroom.

I think this is Botterill's plan anyway. I agree.

Who are they going to clear out though, and when? Quite a few poor contracts, and even Moulson's goes another year.
