Brawndo Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 Botterill was on GR this AM from the GR Twitter Account Botterill - We're looking forward to having Will Borgen in Rochester. It will accelarate his development process, and we'll have a good look at him during training camp. #Sabres Botterill - I think Nylander's game has improved drastically. He had a rough start to the season, but he's been better with his speed among other aspects. He's worked extremely hard in Rochester. His compete level has improved, and it's been rewarded with more points. #Sabres Botterill - We're excited about Rasmus Asplund and Victor Olofsson in Sweden. Hope to talk to Asplund to see where he's at, and we see Olofsson being in Rochester developing his game here next season. #Sabres Botterill - CJ Smith would be probably be in Buffalo if it hadn't have been for his second half injuries. He had a great start to his season in Rochester. #Sabres Also mentioned if the World Championships are not a possibility for Asplund, they may want to get him to Rochester this season Quote

JB is such a breath of fresh air after all the preening and fronting by the old GM (who set is back years with his terrible decisions). Quote

darksabre Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 I still enjoyed his interviews. I guess if you want the GM to be part of the "entertainment" then more power to you. I'd rather have a GM that actually does good work. Quote
North Buffalo Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 So next year we are looking at Casey and CJ being added to forward lines. Possibly Nylander. That might make a decent though not deep forward roster if you keep Baptiste, Erod and Bailey on third/fourth line. Larrson, Girgenson, Nolan and Wilson as swing guys. Like all four for penalty kill. Dump Pulliott and Pommer not sure where he fits though maybe for experience with Casey. If you add in Dahlin... team speed increases exponentially with just those three adds and continued development of Erod and Baptiste. Sabres still need guys in Rochester to develop. Weissbach is he coming this year. Who else maybe high second round pick... possibly Pu? Quote

Botterill sounds like he wants Olofsson and Asplund there too, along with Borgen. Nylander probably gets another year there. Maybe 1-2 more college FAs? Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 It also sounds like Jbot is confident he can get Asplund and Olofsson signed and soon if their teams lose in the playoffs. Quote

Sabres biggest weakness is on wing now that they have Mittlestadt, I can't see them giving up on a talented winger when he just turned 20. Quote

Hell, we salivate over it every late February. Might as well get excited to do it in July too. Quote
Robviously Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 I still think Nylander gets moved at some point here relatively soon. Why would we trade a guy when his value is the absolute lowest? We lose nothing by keeping him around one more year to see if he can figure it out. Especially if you take Botterill at face value when he says he thinks it has taken Nylander a long time to come back from his injury. Quote

darksabre Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 Nylander isn't getting traded. Good grief. The only thing that gets that done is if some insane GM out there wildly covets him. Which is not a thing. He's here until he either floats to the top or washes out. That's it. Quote

I believe he gets a few games on Eichel’s or Casey’s Wing as the Sabres have four non emergency call ups left. Quote

If the right deal for a top pairing defenseman comes along and JBOTs asked about Nylander, I'm certain he'll be available for the right price. Quote

Drunkard Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 I love how Nylander is simultaneously a bum who has done nothing but disappoint, yet he's worth some mythical top pairing defenseman. Quote
dudacek Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 Nylander only goes as the prospect to sweeten the pot and balance out a bigger deal, or in a Hodgson/Kassian style swap of prospects each team has soured on. Quote
pi2000 Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 I love how Nylander is simultaneously a bum who has done nothing but disappoint, yet he's worth some mythical top pairing defenseman. Nobody is suggesting that he's getting moved 1 for 1 for a top pairing defenseman. That said, his trade value is still high due to his age and skill level. There are plenty of GMs who think they can get him back on track. Quote
