darksabre Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Good. I'm hoping for a return to form from him this year. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Well alrighty then. May he out-perform that contract by a large measure. Quote
matter2003 Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 fair deal for a good hockey player who has been underappreciated for his role here just because he hasn't turned into the 20-25 goal scorer everyone thought he'd be. Quote
WildCard Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 2 year contracts, 2 year contracts for everybody Quote
Trettioåtta Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Plus he is an RFA at the end of this (6 years service) Quote
WildCard Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 16 points last season. 16 16....$1.6M....coincidence? I think not Quote
Doohicksie Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 The Latvian Locomotive is coupled to the train for another two years. Quote
Trettioåtta Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 16 points last season. 16 too much Pre-Bylsma: 0.4 ppg (52 in 131) Bylsma: 0.23 ppg (34 in 146) Honestly, I said it when we signed him - Bylsma is a crap coach and if you can only win one cup with Sid and Geno on your team that proves it. I'm giving everyone a clean sheet this season Quote
Taro T Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Fair deal. Would have expected him to get a small bit more. Was it GA that was desperate to see this deal inked? Whoever it was, they should be happy. Quote
Thorner Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Overpaid. Hopefully he gets back to his previous upward trajectory. Quote
msw2112 Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Seems like a fair deal for a guy with some upside. He was a 1st round pick for a reason. He has some grit, some speed and some scoring ability. He showed well a couple of years ago and his development seemed to screech to a halt under the previous coaching regime. Let's hope he can regain his form with the new regime. If so, this contract could be a bargain. If not, teams need veterans on the 3rd and 4th lines whose contracts don't break the bank and I think that Girgs and this new deal fit that bill. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 I think Zemgus can be a really good player under the right coach. I'm happy with this wait-and-see deal. Quote
inkman Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Overpaid. Hopefully he gets back to his previous upward trajectory. He's making slightly more than the league min Quote
Thorner Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 He's making slightly more than the league min What is League minimum for a player with his RFA status? Quote
Rasmus_ Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Seems about right, an easy contract to offload if they decide to move on from Z. I hope he shows something he hasn't in more than 2 seasons. Quote
nfreeman Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Pre-Bylsma: 0.4 ppg (52 in 131) Bylsma: 0.23 ppg (34 in 146) Honestly, I said it when we signed him - Bylsma is a crap coach and if you can only win one cup with Sid and Geno on your team that proves it. LGR4GM Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Overpaid. Hopefully he gets back to his previous upward trajectory. ... they literally paid almost the least amount they could. So no they didn't. Quote
StuckinFL Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Here's hoping he turns around and that contract becomes an absolute steal. Quote
NNYSABRESMAN Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 I like the player (under Nolan), like the term and money. I think Zemgus would be the type of player to thrive under Housley. Quote
North Buffalo Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 Good signing... good rate. Now get Jack extension done. Quote
shrader Posted August 18, 2017 Report Posted August 18, 2017 No distractions for Eichel talks anymore Quote
