WildCard Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 I'd like to see us sign him, if only because it'll butcher the "NCAA guys won't come to Buffalo" meme. Botterill's hire kinda did that already ;) Quote
Rasmus_ Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 I'm bored and want hockey back, I've missed it. This, I come back to NY, right at the time the season starts. I'm hoping to get a game in Buffalo before I fly back to AZ. Quote
Brawndo Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 Per Matt. Bove #Sabres spoke with Will Butcher this morning & those talks went well. Butcher and his camp are still discussing where they'll visit @WKBW Quote

2 minuter för grovbearbetn Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 The sun came up this morning. Reports say it will come up again tomorrow. And on Monday it will come up twice. Now that's news! Quote
Mustache of God Posted August 17, 2017 Report Posted August 17, 2017 I want to sign him solely based upon his name. I think RJ can have some fun with him. Say he scores at home, "THE PERRY STREET BUTCHER STRIKES AGAIN ON THE POOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWERRRR PLAY." My money is not on him signing for reasons mostly being, "because Buffalo". However, I want to see if the Botteril effect is a thing. Clearly he has a plan of having young guns start in the minors and then have them come up and take control when he deems them ready. "Listen Will, this is what we did in Pittsburgh and this was how we won consecutive cups. Do you want to be a part of this here?". So maybe there's something there. I don't see him going to Vegas since they have so many D hanging around. I'm guessing he signs with a team not mentioned. Quote

Say he scores at home, "THE PERRY STREET BUTCHER STRIKES AGAIN ON THE POOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWERRRR PLAY." It's a shame that he's not some 6"5, 230 pound guy. That's what you need to be with a name like that. Quote
Brawndo Posted August 19, 2017 Report Posted August 19, 2017 Probably just got some swag from his Buffalo Visit, but this was tweeted today https://twitter.com/mikechambers/status/899025093690617858 Quote
sodbuster Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 So what other sorts of swag do we think he got? Couple T-Shirts, couple hoodies, bag, touque? How many Original Pizza Logs do you think one could fit in a duffel bag? Quote
Brawndo Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 why would they give him swag? He asked for it? Or is it practice equipment given to him because he has agreed to a deal with the Sabres? Quote
sodbuster Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 Maybe they paid his contract up front in cash, and that bag is just packed full of frogskins. Quote
Doohicksie Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 He asked for it? Or is it practice equipment given to him because he has agreed to a deal with the Sabres? Different industry and many moons ago, but when I was interviewing for engineering jobs after college, all the big companies gave out swag. Anything to make an impression. Quote

Anything to make an impression. Just seems strange for pro sports. And what's in the bag? And why would he carry it in an airport? So many questions, and we don't really even know if that was him or not. Quote

Would the odds of Vesey signing here had increased if Jbot had been GM last off-season? Quote

Drunkard Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 So that's what Louie Anderson did before he became a comedian. Quote
Thorner Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 So that's what Louie Anderson did before he became a comedian. So we signed Butcher? Honestly can't see him carrying around a Sabres bag, if not. But I suppose it's possible, or maybe it's not him.. Quote
Pokey Jones Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 Vesey was never going to sign here. Buffalo just gets used as negotiating leverage. Do you honestly think any in demand U.S. free agent would choose Buffalo over a major city like New York? Giving away that pick was just dumb even if it was just a 3rd rounder. I hope we get Butcher cause he might just be developable by Housley but it's kind of a whatever to me. (developable isn't a word is it? :wallbash: ) Quote

Vesey specifically wanted the bright lights big city of NY. Not every free agent wants the same. Quote
