Risto.  22yo and playing top minutes.  Needs better coaching and usage but as a top pair rhd he is the hot commodity of the day.

Duda your poll asked who has the most value around the league. There are a couple guys on this team that won't be traded under any circumstances. Jack and Risto head this list. So while they have great "value," what value do they have around the league if they aren't available to be acquired?

On the other hand, I think McCabe and Reinhart have the great around the league because they can be acquired for the right price. McCabe is young, solid defensively with a growing O game locked in for another 2 years at the bargain price of 1.6 mill. Sam is a smart player, a gifted passer who can score goals when used correctly who is already a 50 pt player and at 21 has another decade plus of quality hockey who can be a key piece of a championship team. However, by making Sam "prove it" this season, you could argue that Jbot might just trade him, especially with Mittelstadt, Nylander and Asplund in the pipeline.

I wouldn't call waiting until he reaches RFA status to negotiate a true "prove it" situation. It's normal procedure for both sides. Generally only top tier players sign extensions before their ELC is even up (McDavid, Eichel).

I wouldn't worry about how available the guy is.

Think of it as if the Sabres were folding and this was a dispersal draft.

He's not a 50 point player yet. Hopefully after this season he will be (or more).

O'Reilly wins, with 44 per cent of the vote to Risto's 36 per cent.

Because that was such an obvious two-horse race, both will graduate

Most valuable assets:

1. Eichel 2. O'Reilly 3. Ristolainen

The poll has been reset. Girgensons and Larsson added.

Now it gets interesting. Okposo and Kane are the next two best players, IMO, but how do their contracts affect that?

Voted for Kane this time around, based on his current contract and that he brings a lot of things that KO does not.

Kane's next contract should be similar to KO's and then I would still rank him a bit higher than KO, but not by much.

I'd say very few teams in the league would give up the eighth overall pick for a pending UFA.

Middelstadt and Nylander over Kane.

I do see Okposo as a soon to be declining asset, but he is still very good and he has cost certainty at market value.

He is what you hope an eighth overall pick becomes. Alex and Casey have to justify that pick.

Re-sign Kane and he is in the conversation.
