North Buffalo Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 So you can draw a circle or is that a square? :) Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 John Klingberg, D , Dallas. How can a young top 11 scoring D who plays in 23 minutes a night and in all situations still be available at this point? I'm also surprised that Arviddson is still available, or Shattenkirk for that matter. Does Vlasic just not exist anymore, too? Taro, Eichsnipe, nfreeman. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Does Vlasic just not exist anymore, too?Taro, Eichsnipe, nfreeman. He exists, but is now 30+, doesn't play the minutes and isn't as productive as counterparts such as Spurgeon, Klefbom, Ellis, Leddy or even Slavin. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 30+ doesn't matter for the next 82 games unless he's already declining. He's still top 10 and arguably top 5 in his own zone getting absurdly difficult minutes. Like, that arrow points to Vlasic. This is every NHL defenseman to play at least 10 games. Up&left is the most difficult usage. I don't take any of those guys over him for the next 82 games. Quote
WildCard Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 (edited) What is the 'relative' on the x-axis? Teammates? Do you have that graph for Sabres defensemen vs Nashville defensemen? Edited July 21, 2017 by WildCard Quote
Winston Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Well thanks for posting that chart.. now I'll look pretty dumb when I select Joe Morrow with my next pick :P Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 What is the 'relative' on the x-axis? Teammates? Do you have that graph for Sabres defensemen vs Nashville defensemen? yes and i can grab it yeah. Quote
WildCard Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Nice, thanks. So dark red, top left is pretty much what you want? Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 You WANT blue, regardless of location. if red is up and left it;s more excusable than if it's down and right. Quote
WildCard Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Figured blue meant you had better teammates Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 Figured blue meant you had better teammates Sorry, I read ya wrong. It's your CF% relative to your team. Quote
WildCard Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Sorry, I read ya wrong. It's your CF% relative to your team. Looks like Bogosian is better than Ristolainen then Quote

Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 The only conclusions I feel comfortable drawing from this graph (of FOUR variables, take notes pi) by itself are that so and so gets tougher usage than so and so. Quote
WildCard Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 The only conclusions I feel comfortable drawing from this graph (of FOUR variables, take notes pi) by itself are that so and so gets tougher usage than so and so. It either feels like there are too many contending variables, or they're missing something Quote
Randall Flagg Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 It either feels like there are too many contending variables, or they're missing something I mean, it does just fine. But nobody should feel comfortable drawing conclusions about players with only four pieces of information (especially since zone starting percentage and TOI might not have as much influence as other things), much less one piece of dubious information that hasn't had success as a stat Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 NS reporting for duty. So, are we still stuck with Taro on the clock? Quote
Taro T Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Sorry 'bout that. Some of us have to work. Probably not next best, but he'll be chosen soon & HAVE to have me at least 1 TB D-man: Anton Stralman. Quote

Is Stralman better then Shattenkirk, Ellis, Vlasic, Klefbom, Spurgeon, Gardiner, or Slavin? Can someone draft Arvidsson already? Edited July 21, 2017 by GASabresFan Quote

Winston Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 I don't eat pickles, but I'll go Vlasic Quote
Eleven Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 (edited) Who is next and where is s/he? LET'S GO ALREADY. I think that Marco Sturm gets assigned to whomever is next. Edited July 21, 2017 by Eleven Quote
