Huckleberry Posted July 24, 2017 Report Posted July 24, 2017 Usually these things still get settled the day before, no one really wants a hearing ... Quote
shrader Posted July 24, 2017 Report Posted July 24, 2017 I'd be curious to see how many times a traded player actually went to an arbitration hearing with his brand new team. I can't imagine it's too common. Quote
darksabre Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 Lehner signs for one year per Sabres Twitter. Now I'm wondering what the Sabres offered Lehner initially if a one year deal is enough to avoid arbitration. Quote

If he does well this year he'll get the long term deal. Quote
jsb Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 That's a fair deal, he gets a 27% raise for a decent year but it's a 1 year deal to prove if he's really a #1 or not Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 Lehner signs for one year per Sabres Twitter. Now I'm wondering what the Sabres offered Lehner initially if a one year deal is enough to avoid arbitration. Is there some limitation on the term of a deal in this situation (1 or 2 year deals), or is that only after an arbitration award? I like the deal for many reasons, not the least of which is Lehner's pretty clearly betting on himself. I have to think he could have had more guaranteed money based on a prior offer (unless the Sabres all along had only been offering a 1-year deal (seems unlikely)). But taking the 1-year deal means he's confident he is going to have a very good year. Also, Tom Golisano approves of this contract. Quote

They were free to agree on anything up to eight years. Quote

Only the arbitration award is limited to 1 or 2 years (& 2 years is only an option if there are at least 2 years left of RFA eligibility; an arbitrated deal won't cut into UFA years). Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 Girgensons Did he file for arbitration, or is he an RFA? Quote

LikeEich Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Didn't file for arbitration but hopefully Girgensons gets a deal soon. Wouldn't mind seeing a cost effective longer term, if he'd go for it Edited July 25, 2017 by LikeEich Quote

pi2000 Posted July 31, 2017 Report Posted July 31, 2017 Beaulieu's hearing is this Friday... No chance he doesn't sign a deal before the hearing. Quote

Thorner Posted July 31, 2017 Report Posted July 31, 2017 You really think he's gonna have his hearing? Well, it's only 4 days away. What are they waiting for, if a deal is coming? It's almost August. I wouldn't be surprised to see a messy end to this situation. Quote
