LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) This is the pick we got for Mike Weber... http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=372926 Listed as 6'1" on eliteprospects. RHD played on Ilvesu20 last year dropping 9pts in 27games which is pretty solid. Could be on the U20 team again or be bumped up to the pros. Edited June 24, 2017 by LGR4GM Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 5'9 133. This kid will never play in the NHL. Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Author Report Posted June 24, 2017 5'9 133. This kid will never play in the NHL. Agreed, I don't like this pick. There were better defenders left on the board to take... like David Farrance who just went to Nashville. Nope I dislike this pick, a 5'9" guy without a ton of offense on defense... just doesn't work. dudacek Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 5'9 133. This kid will never play in the NHL. 133-pound defenceman? Holy ! Can't wait to hear this story. Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Author Report Posted June 24, 2017 Farrance from Rochester NY too. I think this was a pick. Quote
Tondas Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Kris Baker saying 6'1" and 165. So does NHL.com Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Author Report Posted June 24, 2017 maybe that is true and the kid isn't terrible but Farrance was there and this kid was at best a reach. Quote
dudacek Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Kris Baker saying 6'1" and 165. So the previous specs were from Grade 7? Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Author Report Posted June 24, 2017 Finnish jr hockey @FINjrhockey 4m4 minutes ago More #Sabres pick Oskari Laaksonen 89th overall. Played for #Ilves U18/U20. Gifted puck mover with great vision, good long-term upside #NHLDraft Quote
inkman Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 5'9 133. This kid will never play in the NHL. I graduated high school @ 5'9" 120 lbs. I graduated college @ 5'9" 194 lbs. Things can change. That being said, I wouldn't draft a Dman that size either. Kris Baker saying 6'1" and 165. So where did the other size come from, his 13 year old bio Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) click his name on NHL.com draft list. 5'9 133. http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectdetail.htm?dpid=109279 Edited June 24, 2017 by GASabresFan Quote
Robviously Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 He has a picture of Erik Karlsson as his Twitter background, FWIW. Wish there were highlights somewhere. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Elite prospects says 6'1 165. I feel better. Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Author Report Posted June 24, 2017 Elite prospects says 6'1 165. I feel better. he is supposedly 6'-6'1" but is most assuredly not 5'9" anymore. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Yeah, 133 pounds is whack. Sounds like he's bigger though. So I went from raising eyebrows to not caring Quote
Drunkard Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) Not BPA. I heard there was another center rated .0000003 higher according to metrics. We're doomed! Doomed I say! We'll never make up that difference in talent. Edited June 24, 2017 by Drunkard Quote
Norcal Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 So is he 5'9 or 6'1 or somewhere in between? Did he go to the combine? Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Author Report Posted June 24, 2017 So is he 5'9 or 6'1 or somewhere in between? Did he go to the combine? He's 6' according to his teams website in Finland and that seems accurate. He could be slightly taller now. No he was not at the combine as far as I am aware. Someone might be able to verify that. Huckleberry Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 I guess this is where our European scouts come in. Quote

If so, shouldn't you be much less pessimistic about the size of a draftee? Possler fell because he was small, then he grew and became a solid prospect Quote
