LGR4GM Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 I thought we took him 7 picks too early!! Someone tell me what's going on!! you can look at his rankings here http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=240720 All David's are good. Connor McDavid. David (and Goliath), Dave Franco. Adding a David is smart. BDA. David Farrance... What's going on: We took two players essentially where they were projected and... THE SKY IS FALLING! ;) We didn't get D Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 We now have Middelstadt, Davidsson and Nylander. How long until Kane is traded. Clock is ticking. Quote

THE SKY IS FALLING! ;) http://www.eliteprospects.com/draftcenter.php?year=2017&layout=&ranking=Rank7&con=EU everyone know you're suppose to just let players fall and hope no one else picks them up so you can pick them in the next round. Iron Crotch Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 We didn't get D Wait until you see what we get back for Evander Kane before assuming that the organization needs defensemen. In the meantime I think we take BPA and (assuming they turn out as projected) those guys can be flipped for future organizational needs (e.g., defensemen) as necessary. IMHO, it's all about acquiring assets at this point. Quote

Norcal Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Can this guy hit? We could use a guy who goes balls out and creates havoc on the forecheck leading to offense. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 I thought we took him 7 picks too early!! Someone tell me what's going on!! What's going on is that Kris Baker knows who the Sabres like and he correlates his list with that so that he can ballwash every pick they make and tell the fans to feel the same way. Quote
Formerly Allan in MD Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Nice player. Lousy pick. He was a 40ish prospect on most lists. We need scoring and D and Robertson went 2 pick later. Clearly we should have hired you as GM. Isn't that the point? Quote

kas23 Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Someone wake up Weave and tell him we need him to explain BPA for everyone again today. Don't worry, JBott himself explained BPA very clearly. From TBN: ""If there's a fit, we'll make that selection for a defenseman or a goaltender but we're not going to force it," he said. "... If there's another good center man tomorrow in our early picks, we're probably going to select him. if it's close, then we'll probably lean toward a defensemen."" http://buffalonews.com/2017/06/23/mike-harrington-lots-needs-sabres-stay-middle/ Clearly, "BPA" is not blind to position. That is, position plays a roll in the player picked, but it is not the determining factor for drafting a player. Quote

Formerly Allan in MD Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 Hockey News doesn't know what to make of him and they list him as a right wing. They love his skating but not his production. Also, they question his "initiative," whatever that's supposed to mean. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted June 24, 2017 Report Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) Marcus Davidsson played as Alexander Nylander's center for some time in the 2016 IIHF U18 WJC. Nylander recorded 11 points in 7 games; Davidsson recorded 3 points in 4 games. Edited June 24, 2017 by IKnowPhysics Quote

But why did he reach so much for the D in the 3rd and 4th? Just once I'd like to see a team's actual player list. Edited June 25, 2017 by GASabresFan Quote
