darksabre Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Good for Jags. The league is better having him in it. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Too bad Sabres don't seem to be in the discussion for him. On a 1 year deal, would be very ok w/ Jagr on this team. Hell yea I'd have taken a cheap flyer on Jagr. Reports are he really did look old and slow in the second half of last year, but the upside is worth it IMO. Quote

WildCard Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 https://twitter.com/SabresStats/status/914904756455460864 The Sabres will be finished with 18 of their season series against other teams before they even play Toronto once. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Looks like the Flames are taking a chance on Jagr. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/jagr-commits-calgary-flames-1.4316543 With a little luck he should be #1 on the games played list by the end of this season, his 24th. Quote

shrader Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 I didn't know he was even playing anymore. He's still filling that role he always has, the 3rd guy who has to fill in occasionally. No one ever notices that guy unless he's a prospect trying to break through (Ullmark). Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 It is with sad news that we announce that Dave Strader has passed away this morning at the age of 62. Long time Announcer for the Stars. Had a lengthy battle with cancer. Per Stars Twitter Actually, he was only with the Stars for a year or two. Prior to that he did the Coyotes, Panthers, and prior to that had his longest stint as a local announcer with the Red Wings (after being "promoted" from the Adirondack Red Wings in Glens Falls, NY). He was the voice of the Red Wings when I lived in Detroit. Quote
Mustache of God Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Jagr needs 50 points to surpass Gretzky's assist total which would disrupt what I consider to be one of the most absurd stats in any sport...Gretzky having more assists than any other player has total points. Can he do it? He'd probably need 1 more season after this and it seems pretty slim he'd be re-signed. Who knows though. Quote

shrader Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 That's easily the most mind-boggling stat in the history of all sports. Especially when worded the right way... if Gretzky never scored a single goal, he'd still be the all time leading scorer. Mind-boggling sums it up perfectly. Quote

Huckleberry Posted October 4, 2017 Report Posted October 4, 2017 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/gary-bettman-possible-seattle-nhl-team-nowhere-near/ That Seattle building is quite interesting. Puts real pressure on the flames and Calgary to get a new arena deal. Bettman is slick though, that new arena gives him the option of moving out the Panthers or Islanders to the west and having a spot in the east for the Nordiques. Quote
