I'm sure there's a work around, but I don't get the feeling they'd want Gionta around instead of any of those other guys. If they did, he'd be here already.

Likely accurate. But, if he & his agent thought surely they'd get an NHL offer by the end of September & the Sabres saw a reason to have him at the AHL level but (like 30 other teams) don't see him as an NHLer any longer; that would be a reason for him not to be brought in yet.

Matthews is going to be in the Top 10, that is positively absurd. He's supposedly better than Tarasenko, Stamkos, Tavares, Hedman, Backstrom among many others.......

 

I really hope to God Matthews trainwrecks this season, just to see the NHL stop riding him like a golden goose.

Maybe Jack Eichel should put up or shut up.

Wouldn't do that too closely. The kind of diet he has to be on to stay in good enough shape to be older than Methuselah and still play at an NHL level must make some really weird odors come off him. ;)
