Yeah I am talking about the Buff that Toews used a trail of twinkies from his locker to the weight room to show him where it was.  Great player not always the best physical specimen.  I shudder to think how good he could be if he was committed to better physical training.

He played withToews what??? 8 years ago? 10 years ago?

You don't have the highest TOI in the league if you are out of shape.

Yes you can. And just because you are out there doesn't mean you are in peak condition. It isn't a question of being "in" shape it is a matter of being in peak condition. Buff is heavy and can dominate physically. With his talent he would be in the Karlson converstion if he maximized his conditioning. The emphasis on losing weight would increase his effectiveness during that league leading TOI.

Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak does not currently have a contract for the upcoming 2017-18 season. According to the Boston Globe, the Bruins have attempted to lock up their youngster for much longer than just one year, offering a long-term deal that would pay him $6 million annually to stay with the organization.

I know it will never happen, but Pastrnak is a perfect candidate for an offer sheet.

I kinda get not wanting to pay him a ton based off of 1 year. If that is your view though give him a 1-2 year bridge worth 7mil and say prove it. Don't low ball him at 6mil.

Pastrank was 19th last year in total points. Paying him 6mil would tie him with the 70th player in the NHL for salary.

It's been reported the Bruins have basically limited what they will offer Pasternak to $6M because they don't believe in paying him more than who they believe are their best players / leaders (Marchand $6.125M, Bergeron $6.825M, Backes $6M)

Which is dumb because Marchand deserves more, Backes is old and overpaid, and Bergeron signed his deal years ago. 3 strikes Boston. I love watching them do the stupid. Wonder what Zachary Senyshyn is up to......

KHL is a viable option this year because it means they're eligible for the Olympics.

Athanasiou is considering it, Pastrnak should as well.

Other remaining RFAs:

Bennett

Wennberg

M. Foligno

Zadorov

Horvat

Duclair

It was formally announced on Monday morning that the Philadelphia Flyers will be retiring the No. 88 sweater worn by Hall of Fame center Eric Lindros. As a result, a ceremony has been scheduled for before the Flyers’ January 18 matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Now officially slated to become the sixth player in franchise history to have their jersey hung up in the rafters, he will notably be joining the likes of Bernie Parent, Mark Howe, Barry Ashbee, Bill Barber and Bobby Clarke.

“I am deeply humbled and honored that the Flyers are going to retire my jersey,” Lindros said, via NHL.com. “I am so thankful to the entire organization for this incredible recognition. I look forward to sharing this moment with my family, friends, teammates, and of course Flyers fans, who mean so much to me.”

Hall of Fame center Jean Ratelle will have his No. 19 retired by the New York Rangers in a ceremony before their game against the Detroit Red Wings at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 25.

Ratelle had 817 points (336 goals, 481 assists) in 862 games during16 seasons with the Rangers. He centered New York's "GAG Line" with Vic Hadfield and Rod Gilbert; they finished third, fourth and fifth in the NHL in scoring during the 1971-72 season. Ratelle's 109 points (46 goals, 63 assists) in 63 games before he missed the final 15 regular-season games with a broken ankle was the Rangers' single-season record until Jaromir Jagr had 123 points (54 goals, 69 assists) in 2005-06.
