Just seems really hard to believe all we got in return was .7 per game.

Aren't they both equal across the table in those regards? Not gonna google. Panarin was an old as hell rookie. It's another reason the Calder is useless. The winner was traded one season later.

I think Saad is the better player straight up.... both have a positive TRpm, but Saad is slightly higher.

 

Saad: +9 TRpm

Panarin: +5 TRpm

Saad is turning 24, and Panarin should be in his season 28-29 season I believe.  If not Panarin might be 30.

As long as Toews, Kane, and Keith are still good and still have at least a few pieces like Panik, Saad, what it looks like Hartman might become, etc. they won't be a dumpster fire, though it's hard to see them winning another cup as it stands today. 

 

Dumpster fire starts if and when Toews and Kane significantly regress and still have 3-4 years left.
