I'd be thrilled to build a defensive line with Calvert, maybe Letestu, guys like that.

 

I essentially sat with Matt Calvert during a playoff game last year :P It was the game he was suspended for crosschecking Kuhnhackl in the head. I sat in the back row of the 300s, and he sat in the first row of the press box behind me. We could have highfived if only he extended his arm!

 

Anyway, I'd certainly welcome Calvert to Buffalo. But I wouldn't give him anything more than the contract he's coming off of.

I'm confused.

You don't want a centre to match up against other teams best centres?

Isn't that kinda unavoidable?

To add to this conversation we had a week ago, I just read on hf that in the history of tracking zone starts, no player has had more difficult assignments than ROR did this season. Bergeron is the only other skater to have averaged 30 defensive zone starts per 60 minutes of ice time in a season, and ROR did 32, and it his quality of opponent was through the roof along with this. Literally the toughest usage quantitatively ever seen. 

 

For a team that can't score and couldn't flip the ice, with goals or shots, at even strength for EITHER of their two offensive weapons with this setup, it might do well to try a different setup.

Matthew's only score 1 goal and 1 assist more then I did in the playoffs this year, all while playing in 7 more games then me......

Senators GM Pierre Dorian announces that the Senators will most likely keep the 4th Overall Pick and send their 2019 1st to Colorado instead
