Sabre fan Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 The Habs sure are a mess...they sign older slower guys like Benn and Alzner then do this?makes one wonder how certain GM's (Montreal, Vancouver, Colorado etc) keep their jobs Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 is this for sure? have not seen it anywhere http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/carey-price-8-year-extension-montreal-canadiens-1.4188199 Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 Carey Price is one of the 10 best players in the NHL He is and I don't have an issue with the 10.5 part, but 8 years is a long time. He'll be almost 40 at the end of this contract. Quote
Scottysabres Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 Montreal signs Price to 8 year 10.5 AAV contract extension I believe the term to describe this is LOL Yikes!!!!! That is insane for a goalie. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Tom GulittiVerified account @TomGulittiNHL The Capitals announce they have traded Marcus Johansson to the Devils for Florida’s 2018 2nd rd pick and Toronto’s 2018 3rd rd pick. Damn. I'd have loved to do this. Edited July 3, 2017 by TrueBlueGED Quote
Brawndo Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 Fudge, that would have been a damn nice pick up, Quote
Sabre fan Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Leafs sign Patrick Marleau to a 3year contract at 6.25mil per season. Marleau is 37 but seems to have something left on the tank. I get the feeling though t hat he had nowhere else to go as one has to think he would have preferred to go to a team that had a good shot at a cup, like Pittsburgh, Chicago, etc. The Leafs will be lucky just to repeat what they did last season, having just about every player play way over their heads and having almost no injuries all season which in itself is quite a feat. Still a good signing for those dreaded leafs... and did anyone see where some fan in Oakland caught not one, not two but three foul balls? Two of them from the same batter on back-to-back pitches! Crazy stuff Edited July 3, 2017 by Sabre fan Quote

Who knows... maybe he's the next 40y/o energizer bunny. Quote
Sabre fan Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 seems like a awful big amount for a 37 year old...the Leafs will obviously try to unload JVR and/or Bozak this summer but failing that will be in cap-hell come next year Quote

You'd think they would have rather traded him to us rather than within the division. He's locked up for 2 more years at just under $4.6 million. Quote
sweetlou Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 Think we can get JVR from Toronto for a second and third rd pick? Quote

Sabre fan Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 In the "there's another example of the GM's giving absolutely absurd contracts then will whine and regret down the road" we have Dallas of all teams giving Alexander Radulov. get this, 5 years at 6.25 million per year (have you stopped laughing yet?). absolutely crazy! sweetlou Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 I wonder if Botterill hates Washington enough to offer Andre Burakovsky a 4 year deal at 15 million. AAV of 3.75 mil and would only cost the sabres a second rd pick? Quote

sweetlou Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 But Botterill won't let them get to RFA status because he will sign them to extension before that. I think Jack signs for 8 year 80 million. Sam will get 3 year 10 million bridge- show me you can score on more than just the PP Quote

If McDavid gets $13.25 million per year and Eichel convinces himself that he's just as good and he thinks he will prove it this season he's not going to sign and nobody can force him to. Same with Reinhart. Maybe he doesn't want a bridge deal and he tells GMJB where to stick that low ball offer. What if he wants a contract more similar to what Drouin got? What do you do then? Break their knee caps or threaten to trade them? They can always just wait out the season and get their agent to solicit offer sheets in a year. Edited July 3, 2017 by Drunkard Quote
