matter2003 Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 After watching this expansion draft, I have come to the conclusion that there are some really bad GM's employed in the NHL besides Garth Snow. The amount of assets given to LV to avoid losing one player was ridiculous. How many extra 1st rd picks? 3? Plus Tuch and others. I'm not pissed at Jbot for giving up a 6th to keep Ullmark over Carrier, because we are short on goalies. However losing Ullmark wouldn't have been a tragedy. Essentially we just gave up a former 2nd rd pick and a 6th to keep a former 5th. Its considered a weak draft this year so maybe it wasn't all that bad Quote

Mustache of God Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 Sounds like Eberle is going to the isles, per Dreger, "Hearing Eberle trade ot the Islanders is close or has happened. Details to follow. Players being notified." jinx. Quote

WildCard Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 Worst part? Edmonton doesn't need Eberle at all, with Pulujarvi coming up they can easily replace him Quote
That Aud Smell Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 It's like an annual rite of early summer: EDM trades a highly-pedigreed forward for a good d-man. Quote

WildCard Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 Got to be Hamonic Yup. Pretty sure he wanted out of there and to the west coast anyways Quote

That about clears out the stench of failure there, eh? They probably keep Nuge, right? Must be nice to win the lottery a million times... Edited June 22, 2017 by Thorny Quote

Brawndo Posted June 22, 2017 Author Report Posted June 22, 2017 TVR to Carolina trade call completed. Canes send late second round pick to Vegas. Carolina also gets 7th Rd pick Per LeBrun. That's a great deal for Carolina Quote
LGR4GM Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 Its considered a weak draft this year so maybe it wasn't all that badThis is not true. This draft is not weak just because there's no Jack Pitt Austin or Connor. There's depth in this draft. Quote
Ducky Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 The Jets moved back 11 spots in the 1st, and gave up a third, to protect Enstrom. That's a poor decision. if you think about it he protected Lowry or Perreault, not Enstrom or Dano. Quote

That's a great deal for Carolina I would have been angry had we given up a second for TVR. Guy's not that good. But hey, Carolina has done well with their defencemen, so what do I know? Speaking of Carolina's D, does this open up the possibility of Hanifin or Faulk to the Avs for Duchene? Edited June 22, 2017 by dudacek Quote

The Canes have long been speculated as the team that would really go hard after Duchene. Quote
3putt Posted June 22, 2017 Report Posted June 22, 2017 This. With which draft pick? The 6th-rounder? That wouldn't have done it. Vegas would have had zero interest in the $2.25MM Foligno (who is an RFA) or the coming-off-a-major-injury Larsson (also an RFA) without a real sweetener. If I am correct as to my evaluation it might have been a 5th rounder or someone to in the AHL like Austin. If TW is correct they would have been able to flip Foligno or Larrson much easier and may not have needed a sweetener at all. Quote

Johan Larsson, 11pts in 36 games, not as good as William Carrier 8pts in 41 games... because? I mean we can say a 24 v 22 year old I guess but Larsson has been better, why expose him? Blue summed up my opinion a few posts earlier. Carrier is more versatile and can compliment more player's styles. I don't think he is a HOFer but we don't need an all star at every position just pieces that create synergy where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Now on to the draft. Quote
