Brawndo Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Hearing Penguins director of amateur scouting Randy Sexton may join Jason Botterill in Buffalo. Per Chuck Gormley Edited June 26, 2017 by BRAWNDO Quote
dudacek Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Not only another former Penguin, but a two-time failed GM and the orchestrator of the most blatant tank prior to ours. Will the horrors never cease? ???? Edited May 23, 2017 by dudacek Quote
Samson's Flow Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 Cool I guess? Wiki says he has experience as a GM, although doesn't sound like he was very successful in that role: Randy Sexton (born July 24, 1959) is a Canadian ice hockey executive, businessman and former athlete. He is currently the Director of Amateur Scouting for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He most recently was the general manager of the Florida Panthers of the NHL. He was one of the founders of the Ottawa Senators NHL club in Ottawa, Ontario. He later became the Senators' second general manager. Quote
Drunkard Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Sweet. Now which one of these Pittsburgh guys is going to be smuggling Crosby and Malkin into Buffalo with them? Edited May 23, 2017 by Drunkard Quote
shrader Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 Cool I guess? Wiki says he has experience as a GM, although doesn't sound like he was very successful in that role: Somewhere in the not too distant future every word in this thread will be said about TIm Murray on another team's board. He'll be heading up a scouting department somewhere. Quote
shrader Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 That somehow needs to be merged with 11's video of the soccer coach taking a paper airplane to the head. Quote
bunomatic Posted May 24, 2017 Report Posted May 24, 2017 Sexton ? I was never a fan of his music Quote
Weave Posted May 24, 2017 Report Posted May 24, 2017 Not a fan of this hire. I was hoping they'd hire Chad Sexington. Quote
I-90 W Posted May 24, 2017 Report Posted May 24, 2017 Never heard of him, but it really does feel like we are becoming the Buffalo Penguins lol. Quote

Not that you'd want to see it. Something something no Os or D whatsoever... wait a minute, there's one in there if you stare at it long enough... Quote

I'm still trying to figure out how that would be pronounced. Quote

Doohicksie Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 I have no idea how to say it, but felt the dg was essential in getting the concept across. Quote
Two or less Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 Great hire if true. When would he come, after the draft like Brandon Beane did from Carolina or would he still want to jump ship before the draft and get working with his new team? Quote

He runs Pittsburgh's Draft per Paul Hamilton So they probably won't let him go before that. Edited May 25, 2017 by BRAWNDO Quote
Tondas Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 Randy Sexton, from Trailer Park Boys??? Better get more cheeseburgers for the KeyBank Center. Quote

I get it, but isn't that a pretty major conflict of interest? If he's about to leave what incentive does he have to get Pittsburgh the best players instead of Buffalo? I know the incentive is "because its the right thing to do", good work ethic, or professional courtesy, but really...this world is hyper competitive. I feel like its surprising that this stuff happens as often as it does. Quote
