That Aud Smell Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Sees Reinhart as a winger going forward.... sorry folks. Sam first as a winger form what he's seen of him. Where was that fire Jason Botterill thread? Mother plucker. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) Sam Reinhart, "from what I've seen mostly at the wing standpoint" he's a winger for now but "he has versatility and that's a strength" Paraphrased Edited May 11, 2017 by LGR4GM Quote
Brawndo Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 He looks at Reinhart as a winger, but likes players who can play both positions Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Maybe these pro personnel guys see something we don't? Like, maybe, there's just NFW Reinhart has the skating to play the position? Quote
Weave Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 We want Sam to be a center so badly that we aren't seeing anything else. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Maybe these pro personnel guys see something we don't? Like, maybe, there's just NFW Reinhart has the skating to play the position? could be. Think then they should focus harder on his skating. We want Sam to be a center so badly that we aren't seeing anything else.I just wonder if he'd be better. But if I'm wrong, I'm wrong as long as he contributes. Quote
Weave Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Maybe these pro personnel guys see something we don't? Like, maybe, there's just NFW Reinhart has the skating to play the position? IMO skating is part of it. I can't put a finger on exactly why I've been calling him a hybrid, but I don't see enough dynamic ability in his game for a scoring line center. He's certainly a very good passer at this level, but I don't see really dynamic play. I'll keep saying it, Patrick Sharp. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 FIRE JASON!! Although, he seems to have said 'from what he has seen', so we all have only seen Samson on the wing. Quote

Can he distribute and be better there?Wgr is right, the fan base doesn't have tolerance and expects production, immediately. Quote
WildCard Posted May 11, 2017 Author Report Posted May 11, 2017 Looks like I didn't read into anything Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Well that's a relief... good thing he doesn't want to trade Eichel and O'Reilly, or play a slow non-possession game. Pretty much. Show me. It's time for results. Sam first as a winger from what he's seen of him. Where was that fire Jason Botterill thread? Or the trade Reinhart thread. I'm serious. If Sam is only going to be a winger, I want to trade him. Quote

Wgr is right, the fan base doesn't have tolerance and expects production, immediately. It isn't just "can he be better there". It is can he be better than the other guys who are there, and can the other guy he displaces be better at wing. And I think it is pretty clear that ROR at center and Sam at wing is a better situation for Buffalo than Sam at center and ROR at wing. If we had sufficient depth at wing to be able to put Sam in a 3rd line center role with goal scorers, that would be a good option. But we don't have that. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Looks like I didn't read into anything Really? You are going to be that guy? You did read into it, Botterill when on about hybrid players and not knowing where Sam fits yet. But hey Narrative. He didn't mention Evander Kane, bet he has already traded him then. ROR most productive year was at wing and in international tourneys they put him on the wing, I really wonder if ROR at LW with Eichel as his center would be better. Quote
dudacek Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Pretty much. Show me. It's time for results. The above is my statement to Sam Reinhart. For those that weren't listening, he brought up three players unsolicited: Girgensons and Larsson (in the context of Reinhart) for also being versatile, and Jack McCabe as a mobile minute-munching defenceman. pi2000 Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 I thought Bylsma was the problem?! He's gone and guess what... Reinhart is still a winger. Now Sam should be traded?! Get over it anti-Bylsmites! Quote
Randall Flagg Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Look at the defensemen on Pittsburgh and how they were acquired. I bet we don't trade Samson OR Kane, and still fix our D. Quote
3putt Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Not very impressed. Dresses nice, but nothing of substance that gives me anything otberbthan the feeling he impressed TPegs in the same way Russ Brandon did. The "i don't care if your useless you present well and won't make a scene at the Country Club bar" way. Quote

That is not what JBOT said at all. Also Bylsma sucks, did suck, and will continue to suck as an NHL coach. Quote

ROR can. That is why we shouldn't move ROR to wing. The only way it works is if Sam has a winger dynamic enough to cover where he lacks. ROR and Eichel on the same line gives us one line that can really force play. Quote
dudacek Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 I think Yse was on to something with his Doumoulin proposal. Botterill will acquire two mid-roster moneypuck defencemen at a moderate price. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 I remember Samson with Kane and Bailey at NYR. I remember him dominating WJC there. I don't like hearing that, but Samson can play his way to pivot. I think he will. Quote

We have no idea if Sam can be dynamic because we have never seen him play center for an extended period of time under any modern NHL system. I remember Samson with Kane and Bailey at NYR. I remember him dominating WJC there. I don't like hearing that, but Samson can play his way to pivot. I think he will. Here's the thing as I see it. Sam can play pivot but he needs to prove that and if he doesn't then he will be a winger. I will be wrong and that is fine. It is on Reinhart now to prove it. Quote

I get where you're coming from, but I think Sam has a quieter dynamism in him: think Bergeron, Zetterberg, Sedin. I think Sam's career so far has been shaped by far too much deference to Jack Quote

Hey it's interesting, when talking about our centers which I know you know Kane isn't, that he doesn't mention Reinhart. And 20m later he said he sees Sam as a winger right now. But hey, appreciate it Quote
