woods-racer Posted May 19, 2017 Report Posted May 19, 2017 JBOT or J-BOT  Botter or Botsie/Botsy  Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 19, 2017 Report Posted May 19, 2017 Same. I was all aboard the J-Bot train, but Botsie/Botsy flows off the tongue well. It does. I can see why it's been the nickname elsewhere. Probably from when he was playing hockey. The -sie/-zee is my favourite type of hockey naming method. My all-time favourite example of that? Grant Fuhrzee. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted May 19, 2017 Report Posted May 19, 2017 JBOT, I think, has already been decided upon. I thought that's what we settled on too. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 Botilisious? Really anything but Botsie. That whole meme was just  Quote
bunomatic Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 Botilisious? Really anything but Botsie. That whole meme was just  Yeah Botsie is too cutsie Quote
woods-racer Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 Yeah Botsie is too cutsie It's not cutsie, it's pure 100% Canadian nicknaming at it's best. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 It's not cutsie, it's pure 100% Canadian nicknaming at it's best. Correct. Do we need a refresher on hockey naming conventions? You've generally got 2 choices -- the -zee/-see/-ee treatment, or the -er treatment. Botterill wouldn't qualify for the -er treatment, since he's already got an -er in his name (even if the "e" isn't pronounced). Quote
bunomatic Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 Lets hope its more along the lines of Ballsy Botterill. ZFG set the bar high as far as nicknames goes. Quote
woods-racer Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 He will always be Botts to me. He is on WGR right now. All 3 hosts played with him, it's Botts to him and them. Quote

I understand that's what other players might call him when he's on the ice, but he's a front office stiff now. Quote
SwampD Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 But does the GM nickname follow the same rules? I understand that's what other players might call him when he's on the ice, but he's a front office stiff now. Mr. Botts? Quote

That Aud Smell Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 He is on WGR right now. All 3 hosts played with him, it's Botts to him and them. Hmm. Interesting. If his hockey name isn't Botsie, then I think I'm back to JBOT. But does the GM nickname follow the same rules? I understand that's what other players might call him when he's on the ice, but he's a front office stiff now. Good question. I think the answer is mostly "yes." Quote
shrader Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 Back when he was playing here, all I could ever think when I saw his name was "butter roll". Quote

dudacek Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 The voice-to-text program on GR referred to him as Jason Box Troll. My personal favourite so far. Quote
