LGR4GM Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Inspired by the instigators, how long and how much per year should Eichel's new contract be? Quote
I-90 W Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Just off the top of my head I'm thinking ballpark of 7y/ 8m. Quote
Rasmus_ Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 I would put Monahan, MacKinnon's deals in contrast when bringing up his next, first true contract. IMO, that's both fair and realistic. He's gotten better, but there are still parts of his game he needs to work on. Quote
Lanny Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Ekblad was 8 years $60M, MacKinnon was 7 years $44M. Probably the Ekblad deal as a base to work from Quote
Rasmus_ Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Just off the top of my head I'm thinking ballpark of 7y/ 8m. See that seems a little absorbent, unless that's what it will take to lock him in. He's right in the Monahan range for cap hit. Quote
spndnchz Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Tavares is gonna get 10 mill 8years. Just saying. Quote
I-90 W Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 See that seems a little absorbent, unless that's what it will take to lock him in. He's right in the Monahan range for cap hit. Of course it's going to be dictated by what the market is and what happens with other similar player's contracts, but I don't see any less than 7 years at at least $53m. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Not a max deal, not yet anyway, but close. He still can improve and I really think he likes it here. So, a bit of a home team discount (?) on a 8 year $50 million deal, as Captain. Quote
WildCard Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Tavares is gonna get 10 mill 8years. Just saying. And he's already better than Tavares Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 I think the Gaudreau and Tarasenko contracts are going to be the ballpark here. Gaudreau had 79 points in 81 games following a rookie season of 64 in 80. His contract was 6 years, $40.5M, for an AAV of $6.75M. Tarasenko had 43 in 64 as a rookie, and 73 in 77 as a sophomore. Following his sophomore season, he signed for 8 years and $60M, for an AAV of $7.5M. So I'm looking at 6-8 years around $6.75-$7.5M AAV. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 9, 2017 Author Report Posted May 9, 2017 8 years 58million sounds good or if he wants shorter, 7 years 50.75mil Quote
SwampD Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 See that seems a little absorbent, unless that's what it will take to lock him in. He's right in the Monahan range for cap hit. He would really be soaking them if that's the deal he gets. Quote
I-90 W Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 He would really be soaking them if that's the deal he gets. You guys do realize that the cap continues to raise right? Mark my words.. no less than 7 years at no less than $7.5m AAV. Quote
Swedesessed Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Keep dreaming if you think Eichel will take such a deep discount. I would say 9M per and you have a chance to get it done. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Whatever the deal is I really want a lot of incentives in there. Based solely on playoff performance. Quote
pi2000 Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Well, he IS a minus player.... sooooooooooooo Quote
SwampD Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 You guys do realize that the cap continues to raise right? Mark my words.. no less than 7 years at no less than $7.5m AAV. I think he'll get $8-9MM. Quote
I-90 W Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Well, he IS a minus player.... sooooooooooooo Well played, shots fired lol. I think he'll get $8-9MM. My bad I misunderstood. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 9, 2017 Author Report Posted May 9, 2017 You guys do realize that the cap continues to raise right? Mark my words.. no less than 7 years at no less than $7.5m AAV.Is it rising this year? Is that an artificial rise? Quote
pi2000 Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Is it rising this year? Is that an artificial rise? It's not rising this coming season. Quote
I-90 W Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Is it rising this year? Is that an artificial rise? I'll search for link but I remember reading $2.5m up to 75.5. Quote
SwampD Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Well played, shots fired lol. My bad I misunderstood. I was just joking because I'm pretty sure TC1 meant exorbitant. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 9, 2017 Author Report Posted May 9, 2017 I'll search for link but I remember reading $2.5m up to 75.5.And is that artificial? The players can vote to raise the cap correct? Hence the escrow problem? Quote
I-90 W Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 And is that artificial? The players can vote to raise the cap correct? Hence the escrow problem? Admittedly this is a bit above my head but I believe it has something to do with an inflation clause in the cba. My comment was more directed to it goes up every year hence why contracts are getting bigger. Quote
