darksabre
Those are two I haven't heard much about. You throwing any $$ down, or just for shits and giggles? Would be a nice payout if either pulls it out. I just re-read my post. Talk about one scrambled out of order paragraph. Time to edit. Just sharts n giggles. One of these years I'll get off my butt and throw some money at the whole day of races.

ubkev
Being from Saratoga, I definitely am enjoying this thread lol. I used to go out every year for opening day. A rare gambling excursion for me. That is if $50 can be considered gambling. Which, it cannot be.

Which, it cannot be. I always bet $10 every race, bet the odds for show. Almost always break even or get $20 - $100, which usually covers snacks etc haha. If you're ever in town let me know, I'll buy you a beer at Kings Tavern across from the track. I was thinking you were prolly a horse guy with that name. Great track down there. Love the races it's in our blood in Saratoga!

Curlin' is the 17's sire and I like that. And I like the other 2 jockeys. I might also bet on Kent Desormeaux and Javier Castellano, they're due. ubkev
So greek to me.... The horse wearing number 17 has a famous dad. The other 2 have jockeys that I like. The other 2 jockeys are pretty legendary and are due for a derby win. 6 bucks bet all 3 numbers. Another few bucks to bet the other 2 as there is a $2 minimum bet. Claude Balls
Ah it.....just dropped a small bet on Irish War Cry. Just because I'm Irish and I wore #17 when I played hockey. It's fate I tell ya.
ubkev
Hey, Kentucky Derby! The Belmont has a better song! Deal with it! Good bet Cygnus

What is the most you can win w/ the bets you made today? I'm not really a betting guy. Mainly only do it when playing cards w/ friends. And that's more for fun. Most any of us will lose is $20. When I was younger I lost $100 in a casino and said forget this stuff. Haven't returned. Edited May 6, 2017 by GoPre

ubkev
What is the most you can win w/ the bets you made? It changes with the horses odds. It's called an exacta box. You're betting 3 horses in the hopes that 2 of them finish 1st and 2nd. As for how much....not very lol. I book bets for a living, gambling does not pay. This is just fun, is all. sodbuster
I have Fast and Accurate. If that horse had a Sabres themed name, it would be "anybody but Cody Franson."
ubkev
Sorry Cygnus, Irish died down the back stretch. Couldn't keep it up in the slop. And GoPre, I didn't get paid. 10 bucks down the drain. But my bourbon is very good.
GoPre
Only because the movie St. Vincent involves horse race betting, here's a great line from the movie. So you still broke even! Yeah, and I have pizza and am making wings. So I'm waaaay ahead! Always Dreaming should have a very good shot at the Preakness (Maryland's white trash version of the Derby, I'll never go again), and if he can take that then it's on to that monster on Long Island. We'll see. Gotta win the sprint at Pimlico before you can attack Belmont.
Claude Balls
Yeah, bad bet on my part. They said he had speed in the back half if needed??? Once he got up near the front he was gassed out. I'll listen to my uncle from now on, lol. And my long shot Thunder Snow.....no explanation

Hopefully nothing too serious and he'll get to live a long, happy horse life with lots of filly's and all the oats and peppermint he can eat. These horses get worked over for three years.....then bang their brains out for the rest of their lives. Not a bad gig.
