Not a single case where the team that traded one of these guys was better for making the deal.

The only time a team traded a top-three pick centre for a defenceman (Turris) it was a disaster.

Svitov, Stefan (Strome?) are the only busts and they showed it right away.

Lots of guys had similar starts to Sam and turned into stars.

Four times a team traded a guy as touted as Sam young (Seguin, Turris, Jokinen twice)

Every time they regretted it.

 

Patience will be rewarded.

unfortunately I think it will take a lot more then the 8th overall pick to get a stud defenceman.

#8 pick plus prospect or #8 plus layer round pick would do it. This is of course if the new GM believes he can re sign Kane.
