I really wanted Dubas as well. Fenton probably would have guaranteed Housley coming as well.

John Shannon was on GR and mentioned that Dubas is probably not ready, which was why Lou was brought in.

The Pegulas reached out to Marty Brodeur and he was not interested.

I actually think that's a good bit of info. Shannon didn't say it was for gm. It's maybe our first indication we're looking to fill a role above the gm.

Not against him really, just so unenthusiastic about it. Dipping back into that Pitt well again, and Fenton and Dubas are just so much more attractive to me

But they haven't really dipped into that well for a hockey (or football) guy previously, innit?  It was just Ted Black and, for a cup of coffee, Cliff Benson, right?

Brodeur and Olczyk?

Can we surmise the Pegulas are creating a hockey ops position for "director of schmoozing"

Again I agree with a Wild post.

Just throwing this out there just in case you thought you where having a sane day.

I'm on an unhealthy amount of cold medicine right now too so that might explain a little but

@NicholsOnHockey
Dreger: #Sabres' GM search "could be remedied as early as tomorrow. That's the information I was given yesterday." 1/2 690

Several good candidates on the list. I'd like Fenton since the Preds player development is second to none. But there are many good choices. It does seem that we're obsessed with the city of Pittsburgh (both football and hockey)...

Sabretooth with 3 votes, impressive.

Does anyone know his/her take on the defensive depth? Also, how do they interpret Kane's value to the community?

Expansion draft philosophy? Do they prefer knights or nights?

I may be switching my vote if Sabretooth confirms a strong belief that WNY pigs in the blanket are actually cabbage rolls.

They are golabki (or golumpki, cause that's the way it sounds).

Who ever comes out and calls them by there rightful name will get my vote.

Doug Whaley was a Pittsburgh guy, so was Tom Donahoe and Modrak. Bills went to that well A LOT for a while.

Black, Benson, Whaley, and DB. Botterill would make another. I hope we pass on him.

Hey, it takes awhile to figure out if a man is a good man. Note how effusive Terry was in his praise of what a good man Whaley is. No such praise for Murray that I recall. Tim probably spent his Sunday mornings with his face planted in a pillow, drool saturating it.

Whoever the GM turns out to be, will be judged on how he sheds the dead weight on this team.

One would hope that's been a primary topic of discussion during the interview process.

We agree on something.

Based on +/- they are all dead weight, except Taylor Fedun and his impressive +3 in 27 games. We need to ditch everyone else and build around him.

When's your interview?

When's your interview?

Unfortunately my heathen religious views are too well documented to be hired. Plus I accidentally brought white wine to the interview and I declined to purchase the snake oil that Russ Brandon was peddling in front of the building before hand. These factors resulted in them escorting me from the building before I could preach the gospel of +/- and warn the Pegula's that Eichel is an entitled prick while McDermott has earned the right to choose his own boss based on his impressive record as a head coach in the NFL. 0-0 man. He's undefeated!

You had me at "heathen religious views".... YOUR HIRED, congratulations.     Your mission is to build a team entirely of + players... if you have no minus players... you can't lose, flawless strategy.

Oh, and you have 30 days to trade Eichel and sign Matt Moulson to an extension.   Good Luck!
