I voted for Norm Maciver and am hoping for a Maciver/Housley ticket.

What's really appealing about Maciver is that he has been there since the beginning of the great Kane/Toews Blackhawks dynasty that has made the playoffs 9 straight times, reached the Conference Finals for 5 of those times, and won 3 Stanley Cups. Looking back at Sabres history, you'll notice that we like to draw GM's from the great dynasties in NHL history (Imlach from the 60's Leafs, Bowman from the 70's Canadiens, Muckler from the 80's Oilers, Regier from Al Arbour's Islanders). I think this is the way to do it: promote guys who have first-hand experience building NHL franchises from the bottom to the very top and staying at the top for a sustained period of time.

Pros for Housley: high character guy, has paid his dues coaching at all levels of hockey (high school, juniors, international, NHL), has knowledge and credentials to rebuild our defense and open up our style of offense, works well with young hockey players, Sabres connection doesn't hurt.

I agree Housley would make a good choice for the D...  a puck moving defenseman in his day would help with Sabres young offensive guys.  Whichever GM fits with this style I am for.

But would he be able to teach them how to put the puck on Matthews tape so he could 1 time EVERY SINGLE shot on Lehner? There is a true art to finding your own personal Richer & are people really convinced that he could teach that skill to our young (or even the older) D?

Pretty sure Puppa shoots the light on on Housley's porch every April, just because.

I think the poll question needs a bit more instruction -- i.e. my preferred GM likely changes if I know there is/isn't going to be a PHO in addition to the GM.

Dudley, Dubas, Keefe (Cutting edge)

Dudley, Fenton/Botterill/Brisebois, Housley (Seasoned 1st timers)

??, Maciver, Housley (Tube socks + chewing gum = victory)

Lombardi, Dubas, Keefe (The battle of the Analytica)

That's pretty much my dream team right there.

That's a lot of effort though

Not a single vote for Drury or Lombardi, I'm surprised

Chris Drury can right off.

Mr. Turn Down the Music

Mr. I Won the Little League World Series

Mr. Make Sure you eat cardboard to stay regular

Stuff it, Chris!

Personally, I'm wary of Lombardi trying to do the LA style here. And I'm not Drury has many qualifications other than "Former Sabre".

PS, he was going to the Rangers anyway... from what I remember of the scuttle butt around here.

Reading this, I'm pretty sure McDermott (indirectly and unknowingly) helped get Murray fired.

Which of the choices is the closest to McDermott?

Come to think of it you are probably right, but I also think Eichel, Lehner and O'Reilly on their exit interviews with Murray didn't really shine a bright light on the sabres.

Wouldn't be surprised if TP contacted some players and staff personally to get a sense of what was happening.

Read some articles where Burke was mentioned as PHO.

A reason I don't want him here.

The guy who attacked Hendy is the one who truly needs to man up. So does the organization that continues to employ him. The organization whose hockey operations are run by former NHL disciplinarian and lawyer Brian Burke. Deep down, Brian knows has acted with supreme hypocrisy in casting his lot with Wideman in the name of "standing up for our player," or whatever similar B.S. rationale he uses to let him sleep at night in not accepting the NHL Rule Book-mandated punishment. He also knows damn well he'd fully support the same aforementioned 20-game suspension it was for any player but one on his own team.

So here is my take on today's events.

1. Larry Playfair is representing the Sabres at the draft lottery. Who cares right?

2. Apparently we have started to interview candidates yet there are no rumors of who came in to be interviewed. Can we put 2+2 together and assume that the person or people interviewed today are already here. (Dudley, Ruff).

3. They are looking to employ a cap specialist just like the Bills.

4. Russ Brandon is a complete tool. It just amazes me that someone with a losing track record such as him still has a job.

5.Pegulas plane has not left Prior.

Re 3: Who does that for the Bills?

Re 4: To know him is to have a visceral dislike of him.

I don't get the plane stuff. Didn't we already establish that the Pegula's don't have their own plane?

"Don't have," as in they don't own one?

Or, "don't have," as in they don't have a deal with an executive airshare service that gives them regular and unfettered access to a specific aircraft or two?

Good lord, I think I'm in love

12m mark for the Bogo Bunker, and 20m mark for some coaching discussion

I thought of Bogo also at that point, but then asked, was that what he was being asked to do?

Play a simple game, get it out of the zone via the stretch pass? Not playing to his strength of being a relatively fast and decent skating big defensman.

They use a jet that is not entirely theirs right? So does the activity of the plane really mean anything?

As for whether the use of a leased or rented plane means anything, it sounded to me like we had a new poster who had inside information on whether and when the Pegulas were flying out of Prior Aviation.

In the absence of that, if someone were to track a plane this week flying out of Prior that was headed to an airport near Boca Raton and then to Philly, it'd be fair to infer that that was the Pegulas on the plane.
