Am a bit surprised Chayka is rumoured to be in the mix here, he just started in phoenix.

After reading that, I'm sold on the Dubas guy.

Dudley - Dubas combo would be nice.   Will have to call them DuDu though :p

I don't think anyone but a message board theorized it in some sort of impossible dream scenario

What's the appeal of Chayka, anyway?

Youngest GM in nhl history, supposedly a analytics guru. Arizona thinks he's a prodigy. Doesn't really have a lot of experience though and isn't a we'll proven GM yet.

Yeah, none of that means anything until he builds winning teams.

So here is my take on today's events.

1. Larry Playfair is representing the Sabres at the draft lottery. Who cares right?

2. Apparently we have started to interview candidates yet there are no rumors of who came in to be interviewed. Can we put 2+2 together and assume that the person or people interviewed today are already here. (Dudley, Ruff).

3. They are looking to employ a cap specialist just like the Bills.

4. Russ Brandon is a complete tool. It just amazes me that someone with a losing track record such as him still has a job.

5.Pegulas plane has not left Prior.

I haven't seen Ruff mentioned anywhere outside of fan speculation. Not sure how you're putting that together honestly

Where is #3 coming from?

Where is #3 coming from?

Meaning Botterill, Dudas, an analytics guy. It would make sense with an experienced GM.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean. Are you talking about Ruff?

Lombardi does not yet have one vote???????? I have initiated an immediate investigation. My sources suspect hacking has taken place and Wildcard will be called to testify. Atty advising taking the fifth is a distinct possibility. More to come.

Dubas at the Sloan Analytics Conference a few years back.

Sheldon Keefe was his coach in The Soo.

I'd like to see Botterill get a chance here as GM. I admire the longevity of Pitts success and I've read that tpegs likes him. Honestly though I'm more focused on the HC than the GM.

True and Wild, I strongly advise you watch this with your pants off and plenty of towels near by

Good lord, I think I'm in love

12m mark for the Bogo Bunker, and 20m mark for some coaching discussion

Which means you didn't vote for him either

I voted for Norm Maciver and am hoping for a Maciver/Housley ticket.

What's really appealing about Maciver is that he has been there since the beginning of the great Kane/Toews Blackhawks dynasty that has made the playoffs 9 straight times, reached the Conference Finals for 5 of those times, and won 3 Stanley Cups. Looking back at Sabres history, you'll notice that we like to draw GM's from the great dynasties in NHL history (Imlach from the 60's Leafs, Bowman from the 70's Canadiens, Muckler from the 80's Oilers, Regier from Al Arbour's Islanders). I think this is the way to do it: promote guys who have first-hand experience building NHL franchises from the bottom to the very top and staying at the top for a sustained period of time.

Pros for Housley: high character guy, has paid his dues coaching at all levels of hockey (high school, juniors, international, NHL), has knowledge and credentials to rebuild our defense and open up our style of offense, works well with young hockey players, Sabres connection doesn't hurt.

2nd paragraph: you could also argue that picking up dynasty cast-offs hasn't actually produced a cup, or even that many sustained periods of good. They went for stretches making the playoffs, but I believe 16 of 21 teams made the playoffs in the 80s so it's not as impressive as it would sound.

He drafted Chychrun with like the 473'd pick in the draft & made a trade to slide into that slot.

Shoulda been a Sabre.
