The old 3 nickles for quarter bit, huh? I think any team with a surplus of up and coming defenders is going to want a hell of a lot better players than either of those guys and they'd be able to get a better offer from someone else. Last I looked there were maybe 3 or 4 teams that were stocked up on defense (Anaheim, Minnesota, and Nashville) and a bunch of teams looking to upgrade their defense (everyone else). If we want a young stud defenseman to add to the stable start with Nylander and add.

I don't think either has enough value to make any package any sweeter. Literally every forward outside of Delauries and Moulson have more value

Exactly. The sad thing is both guys basically amounted to what we got for trading Pominville. Pretty underwhelming to look at it now, although I guess it did set up the relationship with Minnesota where we send them our pending UFA's for their upcoming playoff run and they send us their second round picks for 10 years.

There's a lot of noise around it, but if you squint you really could make a case that we traded Vanek and Pominville for Kane and O'Reilly.
