ubkev Posted April 9, 2017 Report Posted April 9, 2017 If we won the lottery. Would you consider moving Sam for a top D? Yes. But I'd want my trade. Not someone else's. No, I don't know what my trade would be. Quote
3putt Posted April 9, 2017 Report Posted April 9, 2017 Depending on the coach I would consixer it. Sam will whither and die under DD. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 9, 2017 Report Posted April 9, 2017 If there was ever a time to get Samson playing his position, the one that he has played his entire life and was drafted to play, it was surely the meaningless 20 games after we lost to the two worst teams in the league to kill our playoff chances. He played there twice in those 20 games. Three times total in the second half. 20 games total, Samson started at center this season. He spent more time either being centered by one of ERod/Girgensons/Cal O'Reilly or playing LEFT wing than he did at center this season. Quote

This encapsulates the mismanagement of players that is double D. Reason enough to shitcan him right there. But there's more... Quote
Weave Posted April 9, 2017 Report Posted April 9, 2017 Well, Kane is still showing up in these lost games. Did Sam? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 9, 2017 Report Posted April 9, 2017 Well, Kane is still showing up in these lost games. Did Sam? Sounds like the perfect guy if we want more heroic runs to 9th :p Quote
Ottosmagic13 Posted April 9, 2017 Report Posted April 9, 2017 Well, Kane is still showing up in these lost games. Did Sam? Well, Kane was played in his proper position these lost games. Was Sam? Quote
Weave Posted April 10, 2017 Report Posted April 10, 2017 Well, Kane was played in his proper position these lost games. Was Sam? I'm in a minority, but I think he is playing the position which gives him the best chance of success. I don't think he's a full time NHL center. Quote

I don't think he's a full time NHL center. Well, as an NHL winger, he's OK, but probably not top-line material, and maybe not top-6 (not on a top-5 offense, anyway). He was an elite center as a junior. Why not see if he can be a difference-maker at that position in the NHL? It's not like he was lighting it up as a winger, and the team has a lot invested in him.
