Gotta think RoR and Pominville. 

 

Someone called it as the 3 they sent for the Winter Classic promo. I'm sticking with that prediction 

 

That was me... way too easy to call IMO.  Pominville has experience as a C in Buffalo and can provide mentorship to Jack.  ROR is the A only because he's not Jack Eichel.

I am hoping they don't announce anything until right before the Sabres skate onto the ice and the Buffalo announcer calls out the lineup "...and number 15, your Captain, Jaaaaaaaaaaack Eichel!"

 

I'll allow it.

The problem being that he'll be out for warm-ups with the letter on unless they have the captains come out in blank jerseys.

Aside from it being the off-season and being starved for anything to actually talk about I'm amazed there was ever a discussion as to who was going to be the next captain. How could it be anyone but Jack?

I think the options are 1)Jack 2) No captain this year then Jack. In which case, just name him now.

Feel like Botterill wouldn't have said that then if there was any doubt they might name one. Doesn't seem like the guy to get a comment like that wrong

I still think it is just lip service until everything is finalized. Don't set a timeline that can then be broken and cause alarm.

Maybe. I still think it's Jack and will be shortly.

Rivet thinks they want to make Jack Eichel earn the captaincy. They won't just give it to him. 

What's he supposed to do, bring in cookies for everyone?

No, they are making him earn it. Just because you're paid the most doesn't mean you just get everything handed to you. No silver spoons.

Yep agreed. I thought after that clip at the end of practise it was getting announced today.
