That Aud Smell Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Kyle Okposo is admitted to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Buffalo General.I thought this deserved its own thread. Thanks for the heads up, Brawndo. Per Hamilton yesterday: 45] Paul HamiltonVerified account @pham1717 More Okposo has been in the hospital undergoing multiple tests to see what is wrong with him. So far they have not been able to pinpoint it 12:22 PM - 4 Apr 2017 And, not that it matters right now given his health scare, but I am fairly sure that this team has a playoff record pace when Okposo is in the lineup. Well, wait a second: Looks like the team is 29-25-11 with him in the lineup. I don't think that quite projects to 90 points. Even so - they are a way better team with him in the mix, obviously. bob_sauve28 Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 Such an awesome guy hate to see this happen to anyone but he is one of the nicer people and I guess that makes it worse. God speed to his recovery Quote
darksabre Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 I discovered this morning while trying to find this tweet that I am blocked by Paul Hamilton. Which is weird, because I can't say I ever followed the guy or tweeted at him about anything ever... Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) I hope they figure this out and soon for his sake. Nothing worse then having no idea what is wrong and why. This is just the capper on a crazy awful season. From Eichel's ankle, to Kulikov's tail, to Kane's broken ribs and now this combined with bad play, bad coaching, bad leadership and a poor roster, I think this is a season everyone associated with the Sabres including the fans would like to forget. I emailed him and asked for an unblock -- he obliged. Quote

I mean, I guess I don't care one way or another? It's just amusing. The media in this town are so thin skinned. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted April 5, 2017 Author Report Posted April 5, 2017 I mean, I guess I don't care one way or another? It's just amusing. The media in this town are so thin skinned. Maybe. I had actually inferred that some third-party 'bot-based service had effected a whole bunch of blocks for Vogl. Either that, or he just fat-fingered a mistaken block. My account and his had had many rational interactions on Twitter prior to the block. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 Scary stuff. Hopefully it's identified quickly and is nothing serious. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted April 5, 2017 Author Report Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) GR announced he was admitted there, with him being sick and ending up there his DDx would include meningitis, encephalitis, neurovascular problem. Aneurysm maybe. DDx = differential diagnosis, I infer. Edited April 5, 2017 by That Aud Smell Quote

woods-racer Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 DDx = differential diagnosis, I infer. I was running with Digital Dental exchange. But the interwebs (which is never wrong) also comes to your conclusion. So the summation of this theory is that the interwebs and Aud are one in the same. :P Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 At times like these it clearly illustrates that our fandom of a particular hockey team is not where it's at. This is where it's at. My prayers to him and his family. Quote
LTS Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 People said Bylsma's system was confusing.... But in all seriousness. That's scary crap. The injury you can't identify and quantify is the fear of all athletes. It's why they hate concussions. A knee injury is a knee injury. All the best to him. Quote
Brawndo Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 DDx = differential diagnosis, I infer. Yes sir. The person in the media who should have the best information is The Bulldog. His wife is a Nurse Practitioner in the NICU at BGH. Of course HIPAA gets in the way Quote
Swedesessed Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 Wishing the best for Kyle and hope they find out what it is..hockey is secondary in situations like that. Quote
Taro T Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 Best wishes to him. Hopefully they figure out the problem quickly & there is a speedy recovery. Prayers to him & his famiky. Quote
Samson's Flow Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 Unknown injuries are always far more terrifying than broken bones or torn ligaments. Hopefully they are able to get a diagnosis and get KO healthy. Quote

Man, I'm so happy someone else did this, because I was totally thinking it but showed (in my view) tremendous self-restraint  More seriously, yea, unknown stuff is the worst. One of my friends just went through it--he was dropping weight, had zero energy, and so on. First they thought it was mono, then they thought maybe cancer, and they finally diagnosed an autoimmune disease. Whole process took like 3 months. Quote

It took a year before they finally decided my wife has fibromyalgia. I think the testing is better now, but back then it was more of a process of elimination, with some really nasty diseases considered (like MS). Fibro's bad enough, but at least it's not life threatening. (And you should see the bunion I have. Oy.) Quote
kas23 Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 I'm a rheumatologist, who has many patients with neurologic manifestations. Knowing that Kyle is in the ICU is very worrisome to me. I really hope this is nothing and the caution being taken is due to him being a professional athlete. Quote
Huckleberry Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 Hope they find out quickly what he has and gets better soon. :( Quote
pi2000 Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 It's gotta be in back of the players minds, understandable they're not all there mentally. Quote
